Sanctum (Blackwater Pack Book 1)

A shifter romance that grabs your heart and won't let go...
Ok I suck at writing my thoughts coherently... of this I'm painfully aware. So I will not be able to accurately convey my true feelings towards this book as clearly as I'd like, but I will try my best. First of all, this is a debut novel. The simple fact that this novel is well-written and is a heart-wrenching, emotional story shows just how much talent McBride has for her art. Secondly, this book made my heart shatter and change about as many times as the wolf shifters in the book did. I was so enthralled with this while reading it that I let my supper burn. Remy and Skye are relationship goals, and Rhodes is mine. You can't have him.Either way, you need this book in your brain. Lord knows it stays in your heart. I can't wait for the next installment!

Straight outta watt pad
Listen, I’m all about a good ole classic wattpad style werewolf romance but this one was just really bad. If it was $1 I probably would’ve expected this but at a whopping $4 I expected more. There was no character development, I had to hear the main characters sob story like 45 times, and the dialogue was major cringe.

Sanctum is everything!!!!!!!
“𝐹𝑜𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒻𝒾𝓇𝓈𝓉 𝓉𝒾𝓂𝑒 𝒾𝓃 𝓂𝓎 𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒾𝓇𝑒 𝓁𝒾𝒻𝑒, 𝐼 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝒽𝑜𝓂𝑒” Sanctum absolutely shredded me, literally ripped me apart and then Remy and Skye put all of the pieces back together again. Their story is devastatingly beautiful and left me crying and begging for more. Hannah McBride created a brand new world in her debut series blackwater pack and let me tell you, I am obsessed! Skye is everything we didn’t even know we needed in a heroine, she is strong, fierce, devoted, UNBREAKABLE. She is a survivor. After barely escaping her blood thirsty pack with her life. Skye funds herself at granite peak academy with a new pack and a new alpha. Life quickly shifts as Skye learns to to not only survive but to live. To laugh. To love. Remy is the perfect good guy book boyfriend. Let me just say... I am always team bad boy ALWAYS. I like my guys a little rough. Remy has forever shifted me! Remy’s patience, kindness and protectiveness is everything I never knew I loved. I have never swooned so freaking hard! I laughed. I cried. And then I cried so much more. This one is filled with all 👏🏻 of 👏🏻 the👏🏻 feels 👏🏻 this is hands down my favorite new series and favorite new author of 2020. Thank you Hannah McBride for all the little moments that so thoroughly shattered my heart and soul in all the best ways. ❤️❤️ Sanctum is EVERYTHING!

I loved this book so much! Need more!
I have been seeing so many of my friends and fellow book dragons raving about this book, I one clicked it and DEVOURED it within hours. I seriously couldn't stop reading this, I just had to find out everything that happens.Skye's childhood makes me want to cry. She went through so much trauma and fear and anguish. I'm really surprised she's as normal and good as she is at 17 considering how her old pack treated her and her mom. And it broke my heart how she reacted to normal things, like a grocery store.I'm really glad that not only did her and her mom escape, but that she also got to go to school and become her own person. I know she loves her mom, but she needed to find her own purpose in life too, and the Blackwater pack was the perfect place for her to connect with.Remy is yummy, and the ONLY thing that would made this book better is if we could have had Remy's viewpoint as well as Skye's. I would have loved to have seen this thoughts and reactions around Skye. This book does deal with some heavy, trigger topics that I usually can't handle reading, so be forewarned about that. But Hannah McBride did a wonderful job showing the horrors without making it too overbearing to handle. This is an author I know I'm going to pre-order, autobuy, fangirl over. I'm so glad i took the plunge and I'm looking forward to more! I definitely recommend this book 100%!

Shifter romance is its absolute best!
I'm horrible at writing reviews but this book isn't one you should ignore.First of all, this is not your average shifter novel. This is one of the freshest concepts for a shifter book I've read in such a long time.Second, some of the best character development written. Seriously, you will want to live in this world and be their friend.Third, Skye & Remy. If you don't have a believable couple, then you don't even have a book. These two? Life goals. If you love romance, shifters and soul mates, this book is going to be an absolute treat for you!

A bright new voice in the werewolf world
(There is a trigger warning, so be advised about the abuse and bullying elements present throughout the book.)This book had so many of the feels. It was witty and the characters felt so real. This YA shifter novel was a fantastic look at toxic masculinity and the hurt that comes from that while affirming respect, consent, and loving relationships. The idea that women are property or trophies is not as uncommon as most would like to think now and this novel does a great job of breaking down that mentality for a healthier and fulfilling alternative. The characters were believable, lovable and part of me wanted friends like Skye found through her pack. My own personal Remy wouldn't hurt either...All in all, besides some grammatical errors towards the end of the book, this book was a great read! Don't miss this new series.

The start of something great
I love shifter books as much as the next and they have to be done right in a way that a lot of information is packed in but it doesn’t feel like a lot of information is packed in and that is exactly what Hannah has done in her debut novel. The story starts off with Skye in a horrible situation and her journey into a new world with new friends and new developments. I loved how you followed Skye through her horrible start to her amazing finish...ish story. The whole crew at GPA( the school Skye attends) each has its own storyline that makes you want to get to know them more. This story was well paced and thought out and I’m super excited for the next adventure for Sky and Remy!

Phenomenal! Loved Every Second!
Sanctum is without a doubt the most surprising read of the year so far for me. I didn’t really know what to expect as I’m not usually a big lover of books including shifters, especially wolves. However, this was absolute perfection. I raced through this book at lightening speed as I just could not put it down and now I am left reeling, dying for more from Hannah and this incredible world.Sanctum tells the story of Skye. A 17 year old wolf shifter who is living in a pack who treat the women wolves horrifically. Kept as an Omega, the bottom of the pack, Skye knows her future contains violence. However her and her Mom escape at the last minute and have to try and find their way in a new, nicer pack. Always expecting the worst of everybody, Skye has to learn to trust again and her new alpha Remy will do anything in his power to protect her and make sure nobody hurts her again.I can’t even tell you how much I loved this book. Hannah has such a brilliant writing style. Right at the beginning when Skye is with her violent pack, I was both loving the book but at the same time not wanting to read it because of the violence that I knew was bound to happen. I’ve never had such a strong emotional reaction to characters so fast in a book before. This was all within the first three chapters of the book and that really shows how incredible a storyteller Hannah really is, to make me feel like this so fast. The more I read, the more I loved this book. Before picking up Sanctum I was in such a reading slump. Nothing was grabbing my attention. I’d read a few pages and then put the book down. Right from the start of Sanctum I couldn’t put the book down. I spent the entire day sat reading and I didn’t even realise the time ticking by. To me that truly shows how amazing this book is. Right away I was in love with both of the main characters and I cannot praise Hannah enough for the fantastic characterisation that goes on in this book. Skye has been through some dark stuff in her past and the way Hannah dealt with those issues was utterly brilliant. She really captured Skye’s journey into healing and didn’t shy away from having scenes that were really hard-hitting and emotional. I can’t praise her enough for this.Remy is officially one of my all time favourite book boys ever. He is the alpha male but he’s very different to any other alpha male’s in shifter books I have read. The reason I don’t enjoy reading wolf shifter books is too many of them have the alpha males being too controlling and think they can control the girl. Hannah instead wrote an absolutely perfect alpha male, who is brilliantly protective while also being the sweetest most loving guy in the world. He was happy to step in and protect Skye but he gave her the control in every situation and was there for her if and when she needed him and that was perfect to me.Nothing I write in this review (and I know it’s a long rambling, fangirling review) will ever actually do justice to this perfect book. I read this book so damn fast and when I finished, started reading it all over again immediately. I have never done that with a book… ever. This has definitely become one of my all time favourite books ever. It’s fast paced and action packed and filled to the brim with the most swoon-worthy, heart-melting romance ever. I cannot recommend this book enough. I think anyone who is a sucker for romance needs to read this book. It is one of the most brilliant romances I have ever read. If you love paranormal romance this is also going to be the perfect book for you. This book is right up there with Jennifer L Armentrout’s as my all time favourites, which is a huge compliment as usually nothing comes close to my love for Jennifer’s books. I can’t wait to read the next book. I am so here for it and I can’t wait. Sanctum was, in a word, perfection.

Good Start
The beginning of the story was good and held my interest but after the first quarter they introduced a lot of padding. For example there was several unnecessary pages of Remi teaching Skye to cook .This was a way for the writer to prolong the story but only made it agony to read and I had to push my self to finish the book.I believe it will be the same for the other books in this series. This a book appears to be aimed at YA's and it shows from the way the writer deals with the sexual intimacy between Remi and Skye. It appears to be the prospective of a much older adult not a teenager.

Oh my heart!!!
Please: if you’re considering this book, not sure whether to try it or not, PLEASE read it!This is without a doubt the very best shifter romance book I’ve EVER read.I can’t believe this is Hannah’s first book!!I can’t explain how amazing these characters are, how well written the plot is.... there’s sensitive subjects dealt with, but if anything, the authors way of handling them will undoubtedly help those of us faced with these issues.Every time u thought “oh that’s kinda predictable, I know what’s gonna happen next...” the author added a new rich layer to the character development and to the story itself! And I found myself diving deeper in to the amazing world Skye lives in. Skye & Remy are fantastic characters, by the end of this book I guarantee you’ll be just like me: CHOMPING AT THE BIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!! Katy, Larkin & Rhodes are amazing characters, that I found myself just as interested and invested in as much as Skye & Remy.I cannot recommend this book enough!I wish there was a higher than 5 star rating!Congratulations to the amazing author on an amazing first book. You’ve got a fan for life! ❤️❤️

Good read
Told from Skyes POV, who is an Omega because of the actions of her mother. This is a very dark story, with sexual assault, rape, bestiality, narcissist, domestic violence, and everything else. Although Syke seems strong, when she meets her mate she leans on him a lot. Shes very immature not at all like a 17 year old. The Blackwater Pack is womens sanctuary. This is different to other books I have read. I did enjoy reading this book but I cant read the rest of the books in the series . The rape of a 15 year old, Skyes mum, and the Omegas had me wanting to shred my kindle. I dont want to read about more rapes in the next books.

Quickly hooked...
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to keep going with the series.I have no complaints, any frustration, annoyance, anger etc.. is what the author intentionally provoked from (in my opion), great story telling. I also laughed, smiled a lot & found i was easily able to connect, identify with and emotionally invest in the characters. It has been a while since i've read a story & cared enough about the characters to really want to know what happens next. All a girl could ask for really ;)
