The base contains the lights, and there are 3 acrylic plates (Death Star, R2D2 and the Millenium Falcon) that fit onto the base interchangeably. The plates are 1.5-2 mm thick, and from the front, it looks really nice, almost 3d (but it's very much a 2d lamp). Unfortunately the large white base detracts from the 3d illusion (if there's meant to be one) but personally I think it's still a very nice light. The 'outline' - the thickness of the plate - is also lit quite brightly, as it functions in a similar way to the cuts in the acrylic that give the lit-up-from-the-inside effect.I've only used it with the USB connector (provided), and it seems to work fine as long as it's kept on [if you switch it off and on again, it goes into the default colour changing mode]The light has 16 colours, which is fine if you want to keep it on a fixed colour, but 16 isn't as much as it sounds if you're thinking of a continuously variable spectrum. There are 4 modes for cycling through different colours. The 'flash' option goes through the 16 colours at 90 changes per minute. The fade option is weird as it changes in intensity and it's not a fade through the spectrum you'd expect, but instead has sudden increases in brightness. I prefer choosing a colour from the 16 and keeping it on that, as the colour changing modes aren't perfect.The brightness of the light is adjustable in increments. The remote control is useful and works fine as long as you point it towards the device.Overall, I think it's a very nice lamp and if you're a Star Wars fan, it's quite exciting to have. If you can keep it in a place where the white base isn't too obvious, or find a way of hiding the base, it would be really nice, but it's still good as it is.

My remote didnt seem to work but i could control it from the button on the light. Apart from that it was great

Bought this as a small gift for a Star Wars lover and wasn't sure what to expect quality but it was great. Super easy to put together and use, and loved the fact you can interchange between 3 designs.Really bright as well

As with everyone else, please make the person you are buying this for aware that it is not 3D. It is a plastic 2D picture that sits in a slot and lights up. If they are happy with thy this then they will be happy with the product. My son loves it and lives the fact he can change the colours with the remote control. Lovely idea for a night light.

I got this item for my 7 year old, mostly as a night light. But once he realised it had a remote control, it went from just a light to his favourite present. While it worked okay for the first hour, it stopped working or responding afterward. At first I thought it was the battery for the remote control, so I changed that. But no. The item is just broken. It doesn't respond to the remote control and now won't turn off, and the button on the top has stopped working so the only way to turn this off is to take the batteries out. My son is devastated and wants me to get a replacement, but I don't see the point since the build quality is so poor, I'd just be throwing good money after bad. Clearly this product is not designed for Kids even though that is what it says in the title and description.I will be asking for my money back, since this product is not fit for purpose.

Our boy loves this lamp. Only thing it lacks is the ability to charge it up as it’s mains/battery powered but other than that it’s a lovely novelty lamp and easy to use.
