Perfect little pocket knife
I've carried a small pocket knife pretty much all my life. I've had some expensive ones, some bigger ones and smaller ones. For the last 12 years or so I've carried a simple Swiss Army Bantam knife. One blade and a bottle opener. The handle scales started coming loose on it so I started looking for a replacement. The Roadie from Spyderco is just about the perfect slip joint EDC knife for realistic every day cutting tasks. It's very small and very light, I forget that I have it in my pocket until I need it. The sheepsfoot blade is ideal for small cutting tasks like opening boxes, letters and cutting plastic packaging. The super tight slip joint lockup fixes the one complaint that I have about slip joints, that they close too easily and risk snapping closed on your fingers. On top of that the ergonomics are fantastic, giving you perfect control in big cutting tasks with such a small blade. The steel is also a good quality for a small inexpensive knife like this. The only gripes I have are 1) the "spydie hole" is pretty pointless and should have been left out of the design and 2) the grind on the edge is so small that there's only a tiny amount of cutting edge there. Don't get me wrong, this thing is sharp and holds an edge far better than a Swiss Army knife, but it could be quite a bit sharper out of the box with a slightly more aggressive grind.Overall, I'd recommend this thing to just about anybody. In the 35 years that I've carried a pocket knife, this little thing might be my favorite of all time.

Superbly made knife that’s legal everywhere
This handy little pocket knife is a slip joint from Spyderco, one of the premier knife manufacturers in the world. It’s made in Italy and was designed to be TSA compliant back when the Federal Government was considering giving permission to airline passengers to carry a small knife after 911. That restriction was never lifted but the Spyderco Roadie was made anyway and I’m glad they did! It’s an awesome piece of kit that won’t scare office workers, won’t violate knife laws that restrict locking blades or restrict blades over 2” in length. It’s pretty much legal everywhere. The spring is very strong and you really have to try hard to snap it closed. It’s made so that when snapping it shut, the blade stops halfway to allow your fingers to get out of the way. The build quality is top shelf. High end materials and precise tolerances. Very much worth the money

Love this knife
I don't much like carrying typical sized pocket knives as they are heavy, take up a lot of pocket room, and are less discreet.I love the Swiss Army Rambler. It is always with me and on my keychain. But, for when you might want a bit more of a robust small knife, this is it. It could also serve very nicely on a keychain. It is super light, like carrying a tic tac. So easy to open and shut. That round dent in the blade is genius. Why don't all slipjoint knives have that? The knife is aesthetically weird in an oddly endearing way. The blade is thicker than I would have spec'd for this size of knife, but that is also what makes it more robust than a knife this size has a right to be.I have many knives, but the ones I actually carry regularly, are this one and the Rambler. I feel the price is probably a bit higher than it should be, but then there is nothing out there that is like this knife. It owns this niche all to itself.

Modern slipjoint perfection
The Roadie is a great knife for anybody working/living in an environment that is not friendly to knives, or anybody who needs something light-duty to use every day. The available colors (and I'm hoping more will be released) make this small folder friendly and non-threatening to everybody. Of course, this doesn't take away from the utility of the knife itself at all. Although the blade is small, the sheepsfoot design is both safe and functional. The choil also adds an extra measure of caution, both protecting your fingers from the edge as well as stabilizing the slipjoint and preventing the blade from closing on your hand. Although I usually prefer to carry one-handed opening knives, the Roadie is an excellent option when both hands are free and the "double dent" is an ingenious solution to infuriating nail nicks. Lastly, I've grown to love the N690Co steel - corrosion resistant, easy to sharpen, and holds a decent edge. Overall the Roadie feels very much like a modern imagining of traditional slip joint knives, and improves the downsides of those knives in every way.

Interesting little knife, limited use
This is a unique knife, design is decent and well made. Light weight is an understatement since this knife disappears in your pocket. Blade is short and thick, I doubt you will ever break the blade.I bought the knife to use while gardening, the short blade allows for cutting plants and leaves off the stems with no accidental cutting of me or critical stems. Also is good for opening boxes from Amazon. For a general carry knife I would go with a Swiss Army knife, different Spyderco with thinner blade or one of the many Case friction folders, this blade design is not a slicer type blade and too short to be of any real use… lol that’s why the reason the knife would be allowed on airplane’s IMHO.
