Seem a little cheaply made / all plastic shell and replacing some 40 year old units which were heavy steel made and lasted 40+ years.

I have 8 cadet heaters and these new thermostats look way nicer than the originals that came with the heaters 20 years ago. They are made better and the dial will not break like the cheap plastic ones years ago. Very happy with my purchase and the quality of this product.

The thermostat installed very easily and its simple functionality makes it quick to set the temperature. However, after six months of use it's starting to make intermittent buzzing sounds, similar to electrical arching. Could be a fire hazard. I plan to replace it with a programmable thermostat.

This product came exactly as described. It is not cheap or flimsy, was easy to install, and is very reliable. I bought 3 of these to replace the older ones in my condo and am very happy with them. I especially like that it actually has numbers & not just tic marks for temperature range. I recommend this product.

I bought these to go with a couple of cadet heaters I purchased. I was updating from baseboard heaters and really dated thermostats. Initially I was very pleased with the new cadet heaters and thermostats I chose for the area....but now I have serious concerns. One of the thermostats was installed later than the other two I purchased.Unfortunately the third thermostat actually caught fire as soon as it was turned on! Thank God my electrician was still there testing the units and was able to dismantle and pull it out before my house went up in flames. The fire was inside the enclosed casing of the thermostat and NOT in my wiring....it was definitely a faulty unit.My disappointment was magnified when I contacted the seller and they refused to refund my money because it had been purchased more than 60 days ago. I pointed out that the unit was defective but they wouldn't budge. Things got worse when I tried to contact Cadet. Their 800 number connects to a call center in India which was not at all equipped to deal with this kind of issue. When I asked to talk to the actual company and not a customer service call center, I was put on hold for 15 minutes then disconnected.After these disappointments I contacted Amazon and they were fabulous...they immediately processed my request and refunded my money. I still want to let Cadet know about the fire but I refuse to deal with a call center that cannot even process a simple request.
