My boyfriend was able to see what I wanted him to see and tell me what I wanted to know. I threw it away after use, but would purchase again if necessary.

Flimsy!!!

Not too uncomfortable or harsh when inserted however it is a bit of a struggle to close and release it.

Not the best for a high cervix.

This speculum is not professional grade, it does feel very flimsy. At one point while trying to open it I did accidentally release too early and, well, now I know what having the inside of my vagina pinched feels like.That being said, I purchased this speculum because American healthcare is a joke and no one was willing to schedule me for an IUD check up. I had tried to feel for my strings and couldn't locate them. My partner also could not locate them. This is the kind of thing you're instructed to seek medical attention for. Alas, there were no providers available to me and I needed to self inspect and this did work for a single use. I would not recommend trying to sanitize and reuse it. I also purchased forceps to do my own IUD removal using this unit.

I was surprised it says to put in upside down.

Came nicely sealed, and worked well. I wanted to remove my IUD and could feel it but the string wasn't long enough for me to grasp. I purchased this speculum, lubrication and a long sponge forcep or ring forcep. I boiled water & placed both speculum & forcep in to cleanse it prior to use. Speculum worked perfectly, easy to insert, easy to open & it latched and stayed open in place. I could very easily see my cervix and the IUD string (looking in the mirror). My significant other was able to use the sponge forcep to grasp the string & gently pulled the IUD out in a few seconds. It was perfect and done with ease. I definitely recommend this speculum!
