I should have listened to the first review; however, with my trip being so close I was nervous and went up one size. I figured that even if they were a little loose it would be ok because the waistband would prob offer a stronger support and they'd stay put. However, the waistband on these is made out of something similar to a swimsuit except not nearly as thick and very stretchy and silky so it offers no gripping or support to hold the shorts up. Standing in them and they feel like they are going to fall and anything more than a very slow walk around my house and they do start slipping down. Def not going to work out for my beach trip in two days. If you're trying to decide on a size I'd suggest ordering your normal size. I'm 37 and do not have a teen body anymore and should have ordered a medium. I'm 5'3, 153lbs and carry a lot of my weight in my stomach, hips, and thighs and the large was definitely too big. I do like the style, the material, and how they look on me so I will be returning these to get a medium but sadly I just wont be wearing them for this trip.*UPDATE*Recieved the medium and got these in the peacock blue, they are a very pretty color and they fit perfectly! Didnt get them in time for the beach but I wore them all day while mowing the grass (have just under an acre of land) and doing some gardening. They are so incredibly comfortable! The material is light, breathable, and barely feels like you're wearing anything lol. Now with the appropriate size I didnt feel like the shorts were going to fall down at all even though the band doesnt have the gripping effect you feel with draw strings or an elastic band. I was a bit worried about this but not an issue at all. Will be buying more colors! Love them!

I tried many different boardshorts but they all didn’t fit right especially with my “c-section shelf”. These have a roll down waistband and are actually comfortable. I’m 5’3 145lbs and ordered a medium for reference.

I ordered these in a M based on other reviews that they ran a little big. They came in, and while they did fit, they were tighter than I like things to fit. No problem, I thought, I'll just exchange them for a L. Well, the L came in today and if anything, they fit tighter than the M!! I measured them and they are exactly the same width in the hip (about 19.5 inches laid flat). The only change in size that I could see was some more fabric in the stretchy band on top that folds over, which makes absolutely no difference in how the shorts fit! I am very disappointed. I had plans to wear them this upcoming weekend, thinking I had left myself plenty of time to exchange for a different size if needed, but now I have no faith that I'll get a different result if I size up to an XL, so I'll be looking elsewhere.

These shorts have a very long belly band. It is folded down in the photos! I had no way to know that it is twice as big as pictured. It comes up to the belly button. They also fit larger than expected. I'm a M, 29". I bought the medium and they were a bit loose. Even if the band was short, as the photo would indicate, I couldn't use them as swim shorts because the leg holes are very wide. I'd have to wear underwear underneath them, which defeats the entire purpose of swimwear.The color and fabric is really nice. Love the rich blue and soft, slightly stretchy fabric. If the band wasn't hugely long, I'd keep them as lounging summer shorts. Sadly these are a miss all around. Am returning them.

everyone said to size down, I should not have. If you have thick athletic thighs, or no thigh gap, these shorts will be consumed by your thighs and will ride up unless you have very thin legs. There is only stretch in the waist band and no stretch around your legs. Makes sitting uncomfortable as these dug in my legs.

These were soooo close to being the perfect swim shorts. As a mom I don't want to have to worry about over exposing myself while running around after my littles. The actual shorts on these were great, true to size fit with just the right amount of stretch. What fell completely flat was the foldover waist band. It has not strength/substance. Way too stretchy which makes it feel like it's a size too big for the bottom. Too stretchy/slippery to stay in place when folded over, it just rolls down. For reference, I am 5'2" and typically wear a size 12/xl. Had to return. Otherwise, these could've been great.

So I’m 34 weeks pregnant with a huge belly and needed a pair of shorts for the boat. The only maternity shorts i have are not boat shorts material/comfort. Even though these are not “maternity”, I took a gamble and ordered them anyway but I ordered a size large instead of my pre pregnancy size of medium and they fit perfectly, they are super comfy and will be perfect for the boat! If it weren’t for the price, I’d order a second pair in another color. I’m a bargain shopper and $34 for shorts is not ideal for me.

These are prefect all the way around! Was a little concerned when purchased but just right. Being a mom I have a little belly but the way these are designed they are flattering and no muffin top. Sizing seems to go with my normal size also. I wear a 30/31 (name brand jeans) and went with a large. They dry quick and are comfortable.

These bottoms are very comfortable and nice for a mama who wants a little modesty in her swim bottoms. They are awesome for kayaking and paddle boarding. All around great idea and I’m so glad I found them. Sizing is average. I am 5’6”, 155lbs and they fit roomy enough to move freely and not cling.

Because of the fabric waist band, I wouldn't recommend swimming in these. But they are great for lounging in on a hot day. The waist band is similar to maternity pants..I give these 5 stars because I like how they don't dig in and give extra muffin top. I love them.(I wear a size large)

These shorts seem comfortable and well made but are definitely made small. I usually wear size large but these are tight and very short. Has a stretchy material in the upper but definitely not what I thought with sizing.

I bought them to wear with my black and orange bathing suit as my other board shorts are flowered. I bought large because you just never know with these brands. I should of bought medium as they are a bit baggy in the legs and butt as I don’t have one but only I can tell.

Love these shorts, very comfortable and flattering. I got an XL - I am 5’8” and about 175lbs. They fit perfectly. Very happy.
