2 x Gas Cartridge Adaptor, Multi-Colour

There were some rather poor reviews on this adaptor, sighting bad threads and flaking chrome plate. I on the other hand, found the adaptor to be quite well made with satisfactory threads with a decent non-flaking matt chrome finish.

I bought this as going with a Rothenberger torch, as it was flagged as what other customers bought with the torch (should sensibly have come with the torch really). However, though it will presumably be mostly needed to allow use of UK canisters on US torches/burners, the central clearance is designed for 9mm metric valves, while my torch was 3/8" and would not screw down fully until I had filed the valve/nut faces down to 9mm socket size.The difference between the fully screwed down position and the not quite enough position is not obvious to see, so many people will think they have bought a broken torch, before they try actually measuring the clearances.

It fits the different tools at both ends and no leaks is experienced. Product is highly recommended.

If you use the expensive 1lb bottles you need this

The male thread that connects to the blow torch is badly machined as if the cutting die has lost its sharpness or cutting lubrication fluid was not used. The thread surfaces are very rough and in effect grind their way into the soft brass connection of the blow torch. On removal - metal debris is visible. Not recommended.

Most of these adapters will have same problem with the tall can-shaped gas bottles because the pin inside these adapters won't reach the gas release valve inside the bottle. You might luck out with a particular manufacturer's gas bottle, but if not...QUICK FIX: get a red tube spray extender, like you get with WD-40 cans. Cut off a very short 2mm length, insert into the bottle / cartridge gas hole, screw on the adapter / converter - same fix worked perfectly on three different bottles! Always remove the adapter afterwards just in case. DISCLAIMER: this could be a hazardous workaround for you, but I was happy to live with it. Suggest first time you test this, do it outside in an open space, and at your own risk. If you are not a DIY tool expert and not comfortable doing it, then please don't!!

great price but threads are roughly finished

Bought this along with a new gas torch as I already had a nearly full EN417 bottle of gas. The adaptor fitted the gun and bottle put it failed to release any gas from the bottle. The bottle worked fine with my old gas torch and the new torch worked fine with a CGA600 bottle proving the adaptor was useless.

Passt und tut seinen. Zweck. Gibt auch keine Probleme beim lösen und dicht ist der Adapter auch.

Der Adapter tut was er soll und ist dicht. Einziges Manko ist, das sich der Adapter schwer wieder von der Kartusche trennen lässt. Entweder Finger wie ein Schraubstock oder man sollte eine Zange bemühen.

Gewind scharfkantig mit Grat. Nicht gangbar!
