Great option for smoker controller!
Ill start by responding to another review. The review said this was junk and the smoker was running super hot. They changed the P settings to no avail. Look, these are a cheap knockoff part. I wont argue that maybe they got a bad one. But mine is spot-freakin-on.I mention this because I almost didn't buy this controller because the review. I have this controller on a smoker I replaced and when my new-to-me smoker didn't have the digital display, nor did it have the auto shutdown feature, I wanted to get the controller I had experience with. My first cook on this new controller had me hyper focused on the temperature because the bad review. It fired off and shot right over my selected temperature, 10, 20, 25 degrees... ugh. They were right. I let it run. Using my fireboard my average temperature for 14 hours of cook time was 225 EXACTLY (my selected setting). I did bump the cook up to 250 so my average did rise, but I was shocked that it was able to keep the average so perfect. So to the angry person who said it couldn't maintain temperature, thank you for making me focus on the grill temp so I could be impressed at how well it did!

You may have to adjust face plate for a custom fit.(i.e. drill different hole location)
Quality product!! Installation required minor adjustments to the face plate for a clean fit.

Got My Old Traeger Working.
Used this in a Traeger BBQ 070. Had to enlarge the hole it mounts in, used a dremel and file, once that was done I mounted the temp probe in the holes already drilled inside and ran the wires down under the hopper. I turned it on smoke and had the grill, drip pan and heat deflector removed. it started feeding pellets and smoking in about 2 minutes then I shut the lid and the temp took off like someone in another comment said. I opened the lid and started adjusted the "P" setting which didn't seem to do anything so I put it in shutdown and let it cool down and shut off. I put the heat deflector back in and put it to smoke again it started going what I thought was too high on smoke so I adjusted the "P" setting again. Originally it was on 1 so I put it on 4 and after about a minute or so the auger quit feeding pellets and the blower fan slowed down. It started working but was not hot enough so I switched it to 3 on the "P" setting and it started feeding more pellets and getting hotter, about 180 degrees on smoke, so I left it there and started adjusting it up in temp. I would let it go about 10 minutes at each setting all the way to high and it worked good. The temp was about 25-30 degrees higher than on the gauge on the lid which was good enough for me. Turned it to shutdown and let it go off, I really like this feature, it burns up the unused pellets in the pot and blows most of the ashes out of it too. I think the first time I adjusted the "P" function I did not wait long enough for it to adjust itself, also it may help to have the heat deflector installed too. The "P" function is adjusted by pushing the silver button by the display, if you push it once it shows the current setting and when you push it twice it moves to the next setting. Hopefully this will help someone else that has the temp going too high.

Perfect replacement
I got my Traeger because it “was not working” and after replacing this one part I got a $600 smoker for a fraction of the price!

No so good
I wanted to upgrade my controller in my old Traeger because the original on didn't have the automatic shutdown mode. My original controller worked great and I had no problems with it, just wanted to have the automatic shut down. I thought I'd try the controller from Amazon and save 1/2 of what Traeger wanted for theirs. It was pretty easy to do the replacement and I got about 10 cooks out of this controller before it started to blow out the GFI on my electrical circuit. Before it went bad, the controller seemed to work pretty good except the temperature control was off compared to the two other temp gauges in my unit. The unit ran hot at the lower settings and cooler at the higher settings. I have a digital temp gauge right next to the temp gauge for the controller and a Traeger lid gauge installed in the door up near the smokestack. Those two gauges compare within a few degrees of each other when the unit is running while the digital readout on the controller is off by at least 40 degrees one way or the other. Dibay's customer service was on the ball to send out a replacement for the bad controller so I again installed the new controller. This one didn't even work right as the temperature control knob would not go to the preset detent settings, it just felt like it was full of gravel and if you tried to set it to the smoke setting the digital display would say 380 degrees. I tried it anyway and the smoker wouldn't even get to 220 degrees on the maximum setting.I ended up putting my old controller back in and the smoker now works perfectly as before, I hate fixing anything I work on more than once let alone a few times. I'll order a controller straight from Traeger, lesson learned, and cannot recommend this product as a suitable replacement. I have sent the second controller back and am awaiting my refund. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with a cheap knock off......

Traeger model bbq055.04
My traeger had a burnt up 3 speed controller. This controller was a direct swap and upgrade into my model of traeger. No instructions were included, but honestly they weren't needed. The 4 plugs swapped directly over with the same colors as the original wires. The only thing that was tricky was mounting the thermostat since mine didn't originally come with one. A quick Google search lat me know that it mounted in the grill on the left side, the holes were already there! This swap was easy to perform and got my traeger running again.
