Emily's House

This is my favorite book to read aloud. I've got it memorized at this point and I use animal sounds and accents. We bought one copy for our family after borrowing it from the library and have since bought another for my little niece. I have sons and they gather round when I grab this one.

This was my little daughter's and my favorite book to read aloud. Now, I am about to have my first grandchild and I have bought it to share with her too! The story line is fine and the children love the yelling and quiet sounds of my voice as I read the story... it is fun!

Sweet book to read to your little ones. Rhythmic with a great message.

Loved it!

This book is my daughter, Emily's, favorite book. It has been a bedtime regular since she was 2.(she is now 6) The wonderful poetic pace increases the excitement as Emily's house becomes filled with animals and more and more noise. My children love making the animal noises and sharing in Emily's frustration. It is an excellent participatory book. I am now purchasing a new copy as ours has lost it's cover from so much use.

Bought this book for my Emily when she was tiny...not so tiny now. She asked me to order this as a gift to one of the children she looked after in a nursery as a reminder of her as she was leaving. Lovely book, lovely rhyme, perfect for any little one not just the Emilys out there.

I have given this book to several little cousins and now I have one named Emily to give it to. Reading this story to young children is a delight because of the repetition that children love and the musical cadence of the telling of the story. The illustrations bring it gently to life but I'd be tempted to read it first without the child looking at them to stimulate his or her imagination of the growing family of animals that Emily acquires as the book progresses. It is sure to be one that is asked for over and over and eventually continued to be told by the child if Mommy or Daddy pauses in the reading.

Love this book!! My go to book to get as gifts for young children. I have wonderful memories reading it many many times to my boys when they were little.

Such a sweet book, great for reading to young kids. It has a good message about being content with your situation, and how everything is a matter of perspective.
