Good for campers and hikers.
My review of Outfitters warehouse Fire Starter With Knife - Flint - Compass & Emergancy Whistle in Metal Case - Water Proof Storage With Coton Balls - Survival is Easy Using this Fire StarterShipping was good and the item was inside a padded mailer.Since this doesn’t really have a name I’ll call it the survival tube. The Survival tube comes in a black form fitting gift box.Anyway the tube is a 7 piece set that has aKnife - The knife is about an inch long and has the striking rod on the back side of the knifeCompass - The compass does point north. That’s importantFire starter - It does make sparksTwo types of Cotton - I haven’t tried either cotton piecesWhistle - The whistle is a high pitch one but not the loudest but someone should hear the high pitchStriking rod - back side of the knifeEach section of the tube unscrews and is sealed off by a rubber gasket. It has a D-ring on top to clip it to your backpack or keys. It’s only about 5-6 inches long so you could put it in your pocket. This will have a permanent home in my camping gear.I would give this a 5 star if it had instructions and a better box if you wanted to give it as a gift. A louder whistle wouldn’t hurt either. Would i rely on this to save me? No. Would I take it with me hiking? You bet. It’s another tool to help you and complement other tools you have.If you have any question please don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll be more than happy to help answer any questions if I can.I’ve attached pictures of the product I received below. Great foor camping or to take on hikes
I received my flint fire starter / survival tool today! When I opened it, it did not feel like it was made with cheap material. It comes in a nice black box that you can store it in when it is not in use. The knife/ spark starter is a lot smaller than what I expected but it is still really cool. the knife is attached to the whistle, followed by the flint, then the compartments for the cotton ( there are two of them) and at the end it has a compass. You can attach it to keys or you can do what I did and attach it to a para-cord bracelet or you can attach it to other types of survival rope. I used this with my wife to test it out. She had never used anything like this or used a flint to start a fire. I just gave it to her and told her to figure it out. She got the idea right off the bat without a problem. You cut the flint into little shavings that look just like the dust looking particles that are expelled after scratching a lottery ticket. Gather it up into a ball about the size of a penny and get some burning material ( fuel) that you will use. You can use newspaper, toilet paper, dried wood etc. Using the back of the knife scratch the flint towards the shavings. You have to use a little force in order to create a spark. That spark is enough to start your fire. Quickly add the fuel to the top of it while it is lit. Presto! Great idea to put all of these together and have it as one tool. I had seen knives with flints or bracelet with flints but never all of these put together. I received this product at a discount for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Good basic fire starter with knife and compass.
This is a nice 5 piece fire starter. Good quality metal item and design overall. It has a tiny compass, 2 places for cotton tinder (includes some to start with) the striking rod, a small sharp striker knife and a whistle. The whistle is one of the better and louder whistles I've had for this purpose and being all metal is a huge plus. The sections have rubber gaskets and fit together smooth and securely. The included box is nice enough for a basic gift box.The only thing its missing is a magnesium fuel source. The only negative is the attaching clip. It is not fully secured to the fire starter and pulls out fairly easily when clipped onto somethingif pushed or pulled in the wrong direction against this clip. < this needs changed to a caribiner or full ring to make it 5 star item.Based on my usage to date I would recommend this fire starter.I did receive this product at a discount for my evaluation, review and unbiased opinion. All items I review are used day to day, in normal everyday settings andI will update my rating and review based on normal everyday usage if my opinion or experience changes.

Nice kit!
This is a really cool survival tool! It has a knife, a fire starter, a compass and a flint. It's a smaller item, it can fit easily in your boot or pocket without being in the way. The knife is pretty sharp, I'm not sure exactly how well it would work however Its a great tool for survival. The fire starter really makes sparks. The cotton balls inside are interesting I'm not really sure what you'd use them for. The compass works great as well!
