Best mallets!
Love these timpani mallets and the whole series. I now own 2, 3, and 4. They do everything I need them to.

Quality mallets from Promark
Good mallets. The shafts are straight, not tapered, and made of American hickory and stained. The heads are wrapped with felt so stand up to play and wear better. The hardness of the heads give good definition without sounding too staccato.

JH3 hard mallets
These mallets provide a nice general purpose mallet. They are hard enough to play most staccato passages but can still play quiet passages. They seem to be well built and they feel pretty well balanced.

Staccato mallets
I have played timpani for about ten years and play 3-5 plays in the orchestra pit a year. These mallets provide excellent bite for passages requiring articulate strikes. They are well balanced and after 3 concerts and 2 plays they are still in pristine shape. I am very happy with them

I love the Promark mallets for their shaped handles, much better than straight ones.

Recommended by a very talented professional percussionist
Our son needed these mallets as a recommendation from his percussion instructor, who has used almost everything on the market. he has been very happy with these.

Great for drum kits too!
I purchased these timpani mallets for use with a drum set and cymbals. They're perfect for building cymbal swells and have a nice weight to them. They don't have the spring associated with rattan / bamboo handles but their balance more than compensates for that. I would happily recommend these mallets for legato play on toms too (including snare drum using throw-off) and they have ample articulation in that setting, despite being designated as "rollers". If it's warmth you're looking for then these are great. If it's bombast you need then maybe try something harder. There's bound to be a model in this Jonathan Haas range for your needs.
