Returning this frustrating and dangerous kettle
After 5 days of use, we’re retuning this Kettle. I’m an IT geek and it took all my troubleshooting skills to get it to connect to our network. After that, we had to enable a skill with Alexa to get her to control it, and all worked okay. We then noticed that when we were boiling the kettle, regardless of how much water was in there, it wasn’t switching off even though it was boiling furiously, and we were having to switch it off manually or through Alexa. At that point we thought it was designed that way, but on reading the product description online, it did mention the kettle the does auto switch-off?! So we tried again and this time left it furiously boiling away..... a good 35-40 seconds passed of the kettle boiling away before it did indeed switch itself off. By this point there was so much steam released in the kitchen that water droplets had formed on the ceiling and started dripping back down on to the kettle! One of the selling points of this kettle is that you can have it boil the water ’remotely’, or as you arrive home, or at a moment in time, say your 07:00 cuppa before work. It won’t be too long before a house burns down with this dangerous appliance. ‘Smarter’ it may be, but ‘Safe’, or ‘Simple’, it is certainly not.

Fun but some issues
Easy to set up and great fun to use.HOWEVERWe bought ours just over a year ago and it has stopped working. Apparently if you get the base wet it is a common fault. We have been fairly careful with ours but it is, after all, a product intended to be used around water. Not great for a product costing £155. Awaiting a call from customer service - will update with any news.UPDATEIkettle dealt with my complaint quickly and efficiently. They said it sounded like the thermostat has failed. Replacement kettle being delivered in next few days. Excellent customer service.

A really nice kettle but a bit expensive.
Although I got this in a deal for £80 (stainless Steel) and it still seems a bit expensive for a kettle that is now £100, with other variants being £120, I was extremely sceptical whether this would be worth the punt seeing as I've previously paid £60 for kettles that are junk. In a moment of madness I bit the bullet and got one while it was cheaper.Setting it up isn't straight forward and you need to read the destruction book as it involves the phone communicating with the underside of the kettle base via the phone screen. Once you figure that out it's plain sailing from there. Google and alexa need you to add an extension via the add device routine. Look for "Smarter" and you'll see their icon, black with a circle, which is another point that you MUST use the Smarter 3.0 app. Don't use the one recommended in the booklets.Did it change my life? No. But it's nice having a hot kettle when you get home or get up from bed instead of having to wait. Just fill it before bed and boil it once so it's sterile and when you wake up just ask Google or alexa to turn the kettle on and by the time you've fallen out of bed and rolled downstairs your hot water is waiting. It also has geo fencing so when you get close to home it auto boils so if you set that up you must make sure the kettle has water. I've not got the guts to test without to see if it has dry boil protection...Bear in mind that at £80 it's probably worth every penny as it does pour in a laminar flow which makes it feel very 'premium' and professionally made. Button activated flip up lid, manual close. Water level sensing is handy but only if you use the Smarter 3.0 app. It would be nice if Google would tell you the water level..

Fantastic smart kettl... Love it
I'm going to ignore the pretty bad app they decided to use as i use this only with Google home so it works flawlessly. Very fast boil and i just love waking up and as I'm getting dressed telling Google to boil kettle and it's ready when i go down stairsThe initial pairing with phone was very badly executed by Smarter, way over complicated and the app could have been so much simpler but it's still a fantastic kettle and does exactly what i was hoping for

Wouldnt connect to my network and most customer support options are not available
I spent an hour so far trying to connect this to my wifi network. They need you to split your router bands, and rename one of the bands. It only works on a 2.4Ghz band not the normal 5Ghz band. When I did this which means digging into your router settings manual, it still wont connect.Advice is to ring their number which gets you a recorded message saying use on line chat as the phone lines are not manned currently, on line chat should be open at 3 in the afternoon according to the message but is actually closed. In terms of the kettle, the capacity is large and manually I did boil some water but thats not why I would buy a smart kettle.

Good kettle but with smart home limitations
First off... can I say the customer service is awesome - 5 stars! Had an issue with my kettle and it was replaced within 2 days, Aaron was very helpful! Now the kettle (the working one), it was very quick and easy to set up to my network, looks good on the counter top and boils water fairly quickly. The features are good such as wake up alarm (with a slight noise problem - see below) and the coming home feature is very useful. It also has a baby formula feature, which I haven’t tried but does seem a good idea. The bits I don’t like and am hoping they fix on future app updates is you cannot ask Alexa how much water is in it and as there’s no visual way to see on the kettle, instead you have to open up the app and navigat3 a few screens to it or the kettle lid so a bit cumbersome. You can however ask Alexa the current water temperature and also turn it on and off. Knowing the water level is critical to me so this improvement needs adding urgently. Also within routines of Alexa I can set it to boil at a certain time but I’d also like the option to keep water warm like you get within its own app, and it would be handy to be able to voice control this keep warm feature adhoc. And the last point, in its own app when you do set a wake up alarm, there is no option to turn off the actual alarm noise so instead I’ve had to turn sound off in notifications setting of my phone otherwise I’d have a multitude of alarms going off in my bedroom the downside of this “fix” is I now get no sound when boiling is complete on a normal boil. All in all I am very happy with my kettle and a few small improvements and it could do everything I want!
