Yummy, at least the birds think so.
Always a winner with birds. Mealworms provide a lot of nutrion for the birds out there and with this size mesh they can get to them without the mealworm dropping on the floor all the time. I'm still hopefully that I can tempt the magpies, jackdaws, and the odd crow that comes around occasionally to come into the garden to eat these. I love all birds but these are my favourites. The magpies come over to the tree where I've hung all the bird feeders but aren't bothered about the suet balls. They have a go at them occasionally but not often, if I put the coconut shells that are filled with similar fat fillings the pigeons raid them so fast that they're gone in a couple of days at the most. So when the magpies and others come over they've gone. The mealworm will last longer because the pigeons can't use anything to stand on for too long so to eat them all.

Plastic
The squirrels were able to chew through the plastic.

Birds don’t seem keen. Price hike to 3 x the purchase price
Easy to assemble. Good to see a use for recycled plastics. At time of purchase (Jan 23) this was priced at £1.99 but as with many items on Amazon recently this price has risen. It is currently priced at a whopping £6.69! (Mar 23). ….wow! Regardless of the fair price though our garden birds just don’t seem keen. They have never really taken to it. We have other types of feeders for instance the metal cage type ones, and they constantly squabble to get to these but these eco friendly ones are generally left alone albeit may be different when we replace the suet block. Won’t be buying again at the current price even if it is eco friendly.

Poor packaging
Cheaply built, sellotape over the hole is a pain maybe should have been cardboard, while fighting to peal it off the lid does not clip fully and half the contents ended up all over kitchen floor

Hard to unwrap
The first layer of film was enough to keep the bugs in the cage but the second layer added BEFORE the handle and lid was a nightmare. Mealworms all over the path trying to get that off. So far squirrels seem more interested than birds.

Flimsy
This is very cheaply made and flimsy. The metal is not sturdy at all and the whole thing is grossly overpriced! There’s about £1 worth of mealworms and the unit is worth £1-2 max. I’m hoping it lasts a few months so we’ll see. Also, despite the environmental claims, there’s quite a bit of plastic wrap on this, which surprised me. I understand the tighter wrap around the unit to hold in the mealworms but that’s all that there should be if trying to be environmentally friendly.

Broken after 2 months!
Not intended for long term use by a multitude of birds it seems, which defeats its purpose as being eco friendly.
