NOT FIRST ALERT
THIS IS NOT MADE BY FIRST ALERT! False description. Do not buy.

Not Loud Enough
This detector fits the mounting screw pattern of the unit I am replacing and that helps avoid drilling yet another set of holes in the wall.Unfortunately, this unit, like most now for sale, is only 85 dB and there is a good chance that it will not wake you up if you are sleeping in another room. It protects your hearing, but is not as loud as units from past years. I do not know what they are thinking. Traveling on subways to and from work probably exposes you to more hearing damage than an occasional false alarm. If a real alarm occurs, you want something loud to get your attention. If anyone knows of a unit louder than 85 dB, please post.

Disappointed!
I thought I was purchasing the same alarm previously purchased - a plug-in First Alert detector. I must have overlooked the description because it is clearly battery operated and requires "installation". Also, the brand does not appear to be First Alert. I have never made so many mistakes on a single purchase and suspect the description and/or other information were misleading.

Missing instruction stickers on alarm
We got this First Alert BRK carbon monoxide alarm simply because it is the same model that was already screwed into our ceiling. We are thankful that the same model still exists so that we can reuse the same screw holes. However, we are very disappointed that the new alarm is missing the warning sticker that tells people what to do when the alarm sounds. This sticker is supposed to go on the side of the alarm. It is also missing the sticker that goes inside of the alarm that informs people what the different number of beeps mean.Without these stickers, the alarm is so uninformative and people will not know what the beeps mean and what to do. Pretty useless. We cannot expect tenants to unscrew the whole alarm to go look at the back of it for instructions. It shouldn’t require unmounting the alarm. When the alarm went off for us, I only knew that it was the end of life and not CO because of those stickers. I definitely didn’t think about finding screw drivers to take off the alarm. In case of emergency, people shouldn’t be required to have screw drivers on hand. Please help and send us the missing instructional stickers.

Great replacement for RV carbon monoxide detector.
I bought this to replace the carbon monoxide detector in the RV. I looked up the model I had and didn't want to pay over $70 for it so I researched alternatives and this model came up in the RV forums to purchase. It is smaller than what we had in size but I like the smaller size better. It came with the battery already installed so I had to do was pull the protective plastic strip and it worked right away. I did press the test button and everything seems to be working great. I will be using this as my replacement from now on. I am glad Amazon carries them at a good price.
