Phew...thank goodness for Windows 10 for Dummies
After having a minor meltdown when Windows 10 seemed to magically download itself overnight on my PC i will admit i was more than a little anxious as my PC holds a lot of work related material. This is my first ever dummies book and have to say i loved the clarity of it and the humour in between. I found it easy to follow the steps so far (only on page 44 and actually learning to love Windows 10)Once you've got over your initial shock of the change, get going with this book, you will enjoy personalising your computer to you and even enjoy some of the new features on Windows 10.I've only ever really known the basics of computing and this guide made sense to me, you don't need to be a technogeek to understand it.Well done Andy Rathbone for saving the day, the view from my windows is now much brighter!

Just the Jobby
In the breezy "Whatever for dummies" style. Easy to understand & put into practice. Just the jobby. Not a lotofhelp with the "features" (as in bits drop off overnight) built in to Windows 10 (one lives in interesting times [see Chinese curse] with this OS) but jolly useful with the everyday things to be found. If you're new to a PC it's the ideal introduction to your operating system & making it work for you.

for an oldie like me, I even enjoyed exploring the new windows 10, in some respects for us armatures, it does an awful lot that previously need a search party. The book was really useful in guiding me once I had left the path of confidence.. for what it costs buy it if nothing else for a standby, the experts, no doubt have their own publications. doug smith

Excellent in every aspect
Excellent in every aspect: detailed Contents & index so you can find out what you want very quickly. Assumes the reader knows next to nothing about Windows. With this manual you can learn to make the most out of Windows 10 and therefore of your PC too. (However, as a retired teacher, I suspect people with reading difficulties might not always be able to follow the writer's explanations, even though these are always crystal-clear. I would suggest that instead these folks buy a thinner manual, even though such a manual will only deal with the absolute minimum required to enable the reader to use just the basic features of Win !0.)

I found the book unnecessary
I knew I needed a new PC and knew it would come with Windows 10 and for some reason the idea terrified me so before I even got the PC got the book. I didn't go through the book before I got the PC and once the PC came I made one call to Dell about an issue and one call to Microsoft about an issue, and it was plain sailing after that. I was used to Windows XP and didn't want to leave my comfort zone, but Windows 10 is great, so modern and not difficult to understand at all..The important thing to say is that I had forgotten about Google and that any problem with PC or internet just ask Google and some kind knowledgeable soul will provide the answer. So I've found no need for the book.It might be great I just wouldn't know. Waste of money therefore.

Well worth the money.
With the new Windows 10 having been released recently it has now become necessary to learn how to operate it, needless to say for the youngsters of today who have been brought up to understand computers from a very early age everything will be just fine but for the many "silver surfers" like me it could prove a tad difficult. So it was so good to hear that once again the authors of the wonderful "Dummies" series of books have come to the rescue, and published this great book which contains everything needed to master Windows 10. A great book which I most certainly recommend to everyone.

Windows 10 For Dummies - And for upgraders???
As with all new operating systems (particularly from Microsoft) you evolve from the last issue and manage to work out quite a lot yourself from trial and error. A lot is the same but different if you know what I mean. This book is a 'dip in and dip out of' for OS upgraders who upgrade every time there is a new release. For those who move from say Win 7 or XP to 10 then you will get more out of this book if you have missed out on Win 8 or 8.1.Dummies editions do tend to "start you from scratch" as if this is your first encounter with Windows so you have to accept there will be stuff you can skip quite easily. Then again there is lots of hidden info and the new stuff that brings to life the additional functions you wonder what the hick that does/mean. A typical example being the additon of the 'OneDrive' in the new OS. While a real change within the op system, read up and really understand what this means to your files on your other systems and how you can load one file and view on several devices. Read up though on what this means for your privacy and backup options....and further research on what it could cost given nothing comes free after the first 15Gb.!!Brilliant for first time users of Microsoft OS. Reference/Interest for upgraders.

Goof for migrating and reference.
I have been an IT Consultant for 30 years but when Windows 10 came out I thought why try to teach this old dog new tricks or endlessly wander through tech forums. This is a great intro for setting up and using Win 10 for the first time or migrating from Vista,7, 8 etc. It's also a good reference tool. Buy this and a yellow highlighter pen and Bob's your aunty.

It's got what computers need!
Whats not to like? For those that are unfamiliar with these series of books, they are a handy way to utilize all the features of a particular piece of software with a minimum amount of hair pulling to get the software to do what you want it to do. If you need a more information about a problem, you can also find that.Since I upgraded to WIn 10, they have come in very handy to tweak the software they way I want it to work. As an FYI I have been using these help books since my first "DOS for DUMMIES" book helped me learn how to set up and configure the mahsheen in the olden days. (yes, I even had the monochrome screen!)The format of these books are such that you can diagnose a problem and find a solution without the hassle of spending endless time on the phone with tech support, who may or may not actually help you.NOTICE: I have NOT receive this product for free or at a reduced price to make an "unbiased" review. I paid for it myself. I have NOT received any compensation to review the product. The above review is my opinion, after having purchased and used the product.Amazon reviews should be honest so that the next customer can make an informed decision.SO THERE!

A perfect 'dummy' will have difficulty
references are a bit too scattered; not very well organized. A perfect 'dummy' will have difficulty.
