Night Sky® Star Wheel Misc. Supplies – May 1, 2007

This version is a very basic star wheel and reasonably well constructed. It does not include a reference list for the planets. Planets "change" position so there is usually a table printed on the reverse of the planet and its associated constellation within a certain period. The wheel does provide a URL address for this current information, but it is incorrect (try: [...] instead). There are pros and cons to having this information on the wheel itself. I believe there are two or three other wheels that cost only a little more that are a bit more detailed. This may be a good one to start with especially with young children nearby.

This is a great product, but I needed more information about it to make the best purchase choice. There was another sky wheel listed that looked exactly the same, only a different color. There was no description explaining the difference between the two. Turns out that the one I chose was specifically for skies with light pollution. It features only the brightest constellations. A bit disappointing, considering I live in the "wild" with next to no light pollution.

I like the product. Only thing that could be better would be if it were made of plastic instead of heavy cardboard. It would hold up better to dampness and just plain use. Otherwise, I really like it! The directions for use are really clear and easy to understand. The main stars are labeled and the constellations are well marked. Now I understand what I have been just "looking at" for years.

I have just begun my journey to amateur astronomy several months ago and just decided to buy this chart add in my experience and discovery of the night sky. I have found this chart to be very useful and reliable during my observing times. The back of the chart has an explanation on how to use it, if you are like me and never used this type of star chart. I enjoy the fact that this chart is not cluttered like others I have seen. This chart contains only the brighter stars and constellations to help ease the beginner into the hobby.

tThis replace my 40+ year old one. I wish it were bigger but I'm getting used to it. I wouldn't need it but for the fact that we've moved and the ambient light makes it almost impossible to see constellations unless they're very bright. I do miss that.

This wheel is fine for the novice star gazer. It's a little small to have all the detail. However, for the price this is a great little helper when you star gazing with kids to help them identify key constellations. Does not have all of the stars names listed, but not necessary if you are ID'ing constellations.

The Night Sky Star Wheel has plenty of information for the novice star gazer. The only thing that could be improved on is the flimsiness. You have to be very careful because it will bend very easily. Other than that it is worth the money.

Purchased as a gift for someone else. I tried it and it was pretty easy to follow. The further you are from the big city lights (light polution) the easier it will be for you to locate the stars at night.

excellent star wheel for beginners, learning your way around the constellations and basic navigation. it's is very basic but that's a good thing in this instance because it only shows the very brightest stars. Now that i have moved on with star gazing and bought other star wheels (which have much more detail) i still keep this in my kit as a valuable reference because if i'd bought the more detailed wheel first i think i'd have lost interest quite quickly.

Received this Night Sky Star Wheel in a very good delivery time frame. Just what I needed for the use of my Seben Telescope to read the stars in the night sky. Very easy to use a must for all not knowing the night sky. Fantastic 5 stars for this.

For what you pay, this is idea disappointment. I bought it for my niece and had high hopes due to the number of great reviews. It's just a but of cardboard really with star pictures on it. Didn't think it helped us to see stars p properly but there's always the chance we weren't using it right.....

This is easy to use as a beginner. I would also recommend this if you are getting a young member of your own family staredon abit of stargazing as the last thing you wish to do is put somebody off.

I was very disappointed indeed with this product, especially bearing in mind that on Amazon it retails at more than £9. It's basically a flimsy piece of card inside another piece of card. It looks like a free give-away from a Sunday paper, and is really not worthy anything at all. My eight year was very disappointed too - look for something better!
