IT WORKS FOR ME
Cuts a more than generous length plug.Only needed a slight tap to set. The longer plug 3/8 was the tightest, 1/4 I was still able to move it.Would buy again if needed

Fast and perfect
I was installing stair treads and I wanted to conceal the screws. This fit the bill. My old bit from another brand use to heat up and smoke. This bit was perfect! It didn't heat up and cut through oak very well. I thought chipping out the plug would be a problem, but it was super easy with a decent flat head screw driver.

A must for every woodworker.
It was easy to make a plug for a 3/4" hole. The plug created is slightly tapered which makes for a good fit. The biggest advantage over the pre-made ones is you can pick your species of wood. Though you can make plugs with a hand held drill, a drill press produces a more accurate plug.

Great for soft wood boards up to 19/32 thick
I used it to cut plugs out of 19/32 T1-11 siding and for this purpose it was quite adequate. It barely made it through the 19/32" wood and even 5/8" wood would have been too thick for this plug cutter. It is made from tool steel so its life cutting plugs in plywood or a hard wood like ipe is going to be extremely limited. The slight taper works perfectly for tight fitting of the plugs into 5/8" diameter holes. No need for glue with the snug fit.

Works when you need plugs, so here's a plug for it
While it would have worked better with a drill press, I was able to use it with a cordless drill and pretty soft wood.I couldn't find the size plugs I needed for sale at a reasonable price. When plugging holes in wood, normally we want the grain to match, and this allows you to do that, buying a specialty tool once and making plugs to your heart's content.Of course, you will need one plug cutter for each size plug you want to make. 5/8" happens to be a size I needed that wasn't available as a stock item most places I checked. This did the job, although it generates a lot of torque if you are hand-holding it.
