Your purchase should be price motivated.
It is what it is…but it sure doesn’t resemble a "futon" type mattress as described. That's fine with me though, as I already knew that would be the case. I would however encourage the seller to think of better words to describe their item. Here's what buyers should know:1. It's thin, and it's going to get thinner. The padding is not very "full”. It’s much more like the chair seat cushion you would sit on at a dining room.2. Kids will love it; adults could tolerate it. Basically, if you’re a person with regular guests (adult sized), and think this may be a good alternative to a roll-away bed, or perhaps plan to sleep on it yourself, maybe think again.3. It stinks, really, really, really bad. I mean really bad. That's pretty normal with factory mattresses or textiles, but this is bad. I had to air it out for 5 days in my garage, spraying it daily with a deodorizer. Most mattresses I've bought (though this isn't a mattress) aired out in 1 - 2 days max.My conclusion. It's a giant-sized version of a chair seat cushion. Knowing my purchase was for a child guest, and that it was cheaper than a mattress, I was fine with that. But if you want something that will have a bit more use, pay $50 more and buy a memory foam mattress roll.

Smells like bug spray Horrible
The smell is my biggest complaint. It transfers to whatever it touches too. It smells like what they used to use to spray for insects and it is very strong. I bought this for a child and will not let him use it. I had some pillows that touched it and the pillows now smell like this mattress. It's not that soft but does seem well made. The cover unzips enough so that you can remove it and wash it but it is sewn in places to the stuffing, which also smells. I am washing the cover and I have put the stuffing outside to air out but honestly, I don't think this is going to be used. I have no idea what the chemical smell is but I'm not going to risk it.

Buy a trifold cushion to go under it
This is exactly what I was looking for in a futon. Without a cushion underneath it's a bit too firm, but I bought a 3 inch trifold cushion to go under it and I'm having the best sleep of my life - my back problems are gone. I bought two and fold them into a couch during the day for maximizing my space in my small apartment.

Good Value
It was a lot more comfortable than what I was expecting based on the other reviews. I'm 5'7", 150 lbs and I sleep on my sode most of the time. The 27" width is plenty for one person. If you haven't done a lot of camping it might seem a little narrow, but it's more than enough. I do want a traditionally made one, but this will do until I can afford it amd I'll use it as a guest mattress after that.Go ahead and buy some febreeze while you're at it. This thing stinks. It's much better on day 3. I hit it with kost of a bottle of lavendar scent and that kept the smell from filling the room the first two days. I also agree with another reviewer that the tassles are palpable through the fabric while sleeping; I'd rather they not be there. Otherwise I'm very happy. This feels like a mattress that will hold up for a while for a very low price.

Watch the details & color options
Updated: after some back and forth, the seller has kindly given me the option to change the covers (the original ones cannot be removed but the replacement ones are used on top of the original mattresses). The now Burgundy color is as pictured, a saturated dark hue, and the black stitches and zipper match perfectly with this, so I guess my recommendation would be to stay away from the orange. Updated to 4 stars as it is a great comfortable product, but just be aware that due to the prohibitive return cost you will have to be totally sure this is the item/size/color you want as there is no margin for error!Original review:Description says ‘solid colors’ and shows bright saturated hues. In real life, the color looks faded (got the orange) and the stitches are contrasted and white, while the zipper is grayish-tan. Overall this make the item look on the cheap side and actually more of a slightly bleached outdoor lounge chair pad than a futon. To clarify, the highlights and zipper colors are all the same orange as the actual mattress in the (photoshopped) product pictures. Be aware that the return is at your charge and you have to pay for shipment, so make sure this is exactly what you want and don’t be picky about the looks or the actual color of the final product. If you are looking for functionality, they seem sturdy and not too soft, just like any regular futon mattress.

Pretty good
I only paid $80 and it's pretty good. Like others have said, it will be difficult to remove the cover to wash since you'd have to break the stitches that connect both sides. The futon itself is filled with batting, which looks kinda gross and might get messy if you open it, but there's luckily no fiberglass inside this futon (like you'll find in cheap memory foam beds). The bed itself is just a little less comfy than I'd like. But, it's firm so you're definitely not bottoming out feeling the floor. The weird smell it comes with went away after a few days. And, I found rolling it up/tying it to be pretty easy. It's quite compact that way, about the size of a suitcase.

Rolls up Easily, nice material, not very cushy
I think this would be great for someone under 150lbs and who is not a side sleeper. Looks great, rolls easily, semi-lightweight, and long enough for a 5'11" person. Cons: thin, slim, smelly at first but that goes away. I really don't like the sewn tassels. You can feel them when you lay on the matt. Nice little bed for kids or really lightweight people.

Love it!
This futon mat is so comfortable, the day I got it I laid it out after fluffing it up a bit and took a short nap. I have also made a cover for it to help keep it clean. The size is just right, but, I'm not very big (5'2/110). We got tired of out air mattresses giving out, so we have converted to futon floor mats instead. Cost is about the same and I don't have to worry about whoever sleeps on it waking up with an air mattress surrounding them.
