Scotty #267 Fly Rod Holder w/ #266 Float Tube Mount,Black

Okay first of all, I should have looked at the picture a little closer before purchasing. When I went to take my float tube down to install the rod holder, I noticed that my tube did not have enough room in front of my storage compartment to install it there, as shown in the picture. After consulting my favorite fly shop about it, I put it right behind the compartment. One strap went into the round drainage hole. I had to make another hole by heating a chisel and pressing it through the plastic, to cut and melt a hole. Which worked wonderfully. Just make sure you stay away from the area with the stitching on it.This holder is great since I usually float tube with two rods. One for dry fly fishing and one for nymphing. You do have to be careful when heading for shore to make sure there is no obstacles to damage your rod. But if you just look before you get close, you can adjust the holder one to two ways so your rod is safe. The adjustments are great for positioning your rod, so it will be out of the way when casting with your other rod. Also, if I travel using my compact car, I can loosen the straps of the holder enough so I can slide the holder inside the back part of the tube for the smaller space of the trunk with the back seat down.Please note the "instructions" are very minimal on the sheet of paper they give you in the box.

For those saying it doesn't fit their tube try reversing the strap mount so they sit flush with each other, you get less spread. see images. needed float tube straps but not fly holder so interchanged a rod holder I had and fitted it to mount. Hey Scotty make one for spinning and casting rods, I dont like the open side on the holder

I've never written a review but I wanted to write this one to save somebody else the confusion I experienced with this product. I've had a White River fly Shop rod holder for years that worked great with my Fischcat 4 float tube, but the little lever that allows you to move the thing around fell into the water. For some reason I couldn't find the same rod holder online, in part because I didn't know what it was called (I've since located one). In the meantime, I saw this rod holder and I wasn't sure if it would fit the Fishcat 4 float tube. One review said it would, the other said it wouldn't. So I tried it. It's not a very good fit. I'd say it half fits. The picture I posted tells the story. The base is too wide to fit in front of the pocket on the tube, so the front end is almost falling off. If you strap the front strap underneath the backstrap, it will probably work in a pinch, but you'd want to secure it to the tube in some other way because if the holder falls in the water with your rod, well, you're screwed. I'd go with the White River if you've got a Fishcat 4.

It's just what I needed. If I could change something it would be an adjustment for allow the rod holder to be turned so that the rod would be stored angling from front to back rather than side to side. Not that it's a problem, but I would prefer that. Overall it fit my pontoon boat perfectly and is very sturdy. All of the parts fit and work well.

Installed the fly rod holder on my Caddis float tube last week.. Very easy to install.. Took it out fishing, today. Totally pleased with the unit.. Came home and ordered a second one for the other side of the float, for my second rod... Really good value... Recommend this product to Caddis owners...

40 bucks worth it

I have worn out several float tubes over the years.This one is by far the best one. I have already used it over twenty days and can find no fault with it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is one of the air valves was missing the little rubber return flap and the plastic part that holds it on was broken off. I called the company and she said she would send me a new one. that was two months ago and still no valve. I can't fill up that side completely as I loose a lot of air when I put the cap on.

Great Float tube mount for use with scotty accessories, rod holders and gopro/camera mounts. I have just purchased my 3rd float tube mount, with fly rod holder. I can confirm that you get the fly rod holder (260), the combination/deck mount (241), and the adjustable wrap around strap with quick release clips (266). The product description says that the mount 241 is not included? But it "is" included. You get exactly what the item photo shows.
