fits great and will do double or single din.
metra makes quality stuff, this kit will install either single din and pocket, or double din in a 2004 GMC Sierra. Looks great and good directions.

Worked but I had to modify to make it work.
Was put in a 2003 Chevrolet Tracker. Had to modify it to make it work. Use some dyke clipprs to clip a tab here and a tab there. Used a prpane torch to melt a tab off. Was afraid that using the dyke on that part would cause it to crack the entire piece. So, melted it off...got it flexible....almost melting and was able to take the tab and back and forth it until it seperated from the piece. I gave it the ratings I did because it was not an exact fit. I'm highly capable of doing these type of things. Using a torch, welding, air impact tools, so on and so on. The average person would not be able to do this. My son, for whom this was used for in his car....could not do this. So that is why I gave it the rating I gave it. I'm thankful that the material(This item) is available to make a 3rd party stereo work in this vehicle I just wish it had been an exact fit......which is what it was described to be.

Works
I got this to install an after market radio to replace the OEM unit that stopped working in a 04 Suzuki Vitara. The finished install works and doesn't look too bad, there is a small gap between this and the factory trim ring where I anticipate dirt collecting, could put some black weather strip in the gap but it is not that big a deal. This kit is intended to work for several cars and their is no indication as to which part is intended for which car. I wasted a bit of time playing with the ISO style side brackets before I realized they aren't intended for this particular vehicle. It appears the metal DIN cage (included with the radio) is the intended mounting method. There is not enough space between the opening edge and the top of the storage compartment to bend back the DIN tabs (or "wings") to securely hold the bottom of the DIN cage in pace. I had to resort to thick 3-M double sided tape between the cage and the top of the storage compartment. Also, the tabs on a plastic spacer that fits in the opening are in the perfect place to interfere with the only "DIN wings" that worked so the plastic tabs had to be cut off. The spacer is held in place by the DIN sleeve so one wonders why the tabs are there in the first place. There are several other tabs, probably included for other vehicles that had to be cut off as well. If I had to install in another vitara I wouldn't buy this, I would start with a piece of 1//8 aluminum plate I already have, used the old radio as a template for the size and mounting hole locations and cut a hole for the DIN sleeve that came with the radio and paint it black. This would have been faster then waiting for this to be delivered and would have been about the same amount of work. The only thing that would be missing is the storage pocket which is too small for my hands to fit into anyway; we already have had to fish things out of the pocket with pens or other tools. One last thought; the plastic is kind of thin and the tabs that mount the dash are small. I fear there is the possibility of the radio getting ejected in the event of a rear end collision, a potential safety hazard.

98% Quality Fit in an '06 Cheby 1500 with Aftermarket Head Unit
Fits 98% in my '06 Cheby 1500 Silverado. I wish I could go back and try the Scosche similar part to see if there is a quality difference.Plastic is a little flimsy but it holds my aftermarket non-CD drive single din head unit pretty snug. Not entirely satisfied with how the dash trim fits around it as there's a bit of a gap trim and the adapter unit. I may try to put some spacers under the tabs of the adapter to set it forward a bit more and get it more flush. Non of the components here are top shelf, so a bit of wobble or poor fit is to be expected.I guess it could also be the cheap plastic trim Cheby put on this base model truck...Just FYI I ended up using like 30% of the components in the kit, so ideally no matter what kind of head unit you're using this will handle it.For a quick upgrade in the weekend pickup its good for the price.

Screws supplied with the radio worked fine to hold the side brackets on
As others have noted, go to Metra's website for the directions. Mine came broken, and in trying to sort out how to still use it, I cut off the wrong tab on the main piece. It was broken because this packs in a plastic bag and somewhere along the line it got mashed, breaking one side of the single-DIN mount with the pocket in it. Which, it may not have worked even if I hadn't cut the wrong tab, the same tab on the other side was already broken. Not the seller's fault, either, the bag is not clear plastic and with all the black plastic parts inside I couldn't tell it was broken until I opened it.This kit makes no sense really, it could be divided into two and sold cheaper. You only need the piece with the pocket and a couple other trim bits for a single stereo. You don't use that piece if you do a double DIN install, just three of the other pieces. But in this case that saved me, I sat down and looked at it again and determined I could install my stereo using the upper double DIN mount. I wanted to do the lower, but the dash in my 2002 Express would need to have a lug inside trimmed down for the lower position to work. Screws supplied with the radio worked fine to hold the side brackets on. I think the whole install only took about 20 minutes. My seller was nice enough to refund the money since the single DIN mount was broken, so it ended up being free. So I'll live with the hole in the dash for now. I can just make a larger pocket up to fit in there at some point. Good place to stick extra fast-food napkins.

Fit my 2005 Chevrolet Colorado just fine. Needed to cut the extra screw mounting tabs ...
Fit my 2005 Chevrolet Colorado just fine. Needed to cut the extra screw mounting tabs off to get dash to fit back over top. Only three are used for the GM installation, the others interfere. Set of snips took care of that.Plastic is cheap construction, and it did not come with flat-head mounting screws for a stereo, but that is not a big deal. All in all, it did the job and looks very clean when installed. I had to put a small block of foam on the top of the "plastic pocket" to hold the back end of the stereo up/from sagging or bouncing. Worked well.

Missing stereo brackets
Kit was missing the two side pieces to mount a single DIN stereo without a cage, luckily I had extras from another Metra kit that were the same. Otherwise was pretty straightforward to get an aftermarket stereo into a Buick Rendezvous using the correct interface harness. Fitment is OK not the greatest, feels solid enough.

Helped with install on 2004 Suzuki Carry DA63T
Comes with a lot of bits and pieces, was able to use some of them to install a stereo in a DA63T Suzuki Carry to replace the original Japanese market radio.

not as good as I would hope
kit fits perfect but not very strong on this one .. My Pioneer DVD deck kept slipping off the trim I had to make a brace on the back of the pocket to hold up the deck.or put a mold for the support pin in the rear pocket area with a bottom support, this kit looks like the cheaped out on the thickness of the kit .. if it was a bit thicker maybe the snap would stay.
