Excellent Entry Level Laptop
I am not a computer expert but I have used a number of laptops over the last twenty five years or so but I’m not into the finer points of speed, memory, etc. What I can say is this computer seems entirely adequate for my use which is only for home use now. I use it when saving stuff to thumb drives, etc or saving large files, etc. There are certain websites that require use of a computer vs iPads and smartphones as well. I use my iPhone or iPad 99% of the time simply because the phone is always with me and I prefer the IOS operating system. I did not buy an Apple computer due to price and will no longer buy any Apple product since they are produced in China which is propping up the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This laptop is reasonably fast and easy enough to use. The screen quality is excellent and the battery life is great. I have been using it for about a year now with no problems although I have used it very little relative to my phone.

Excellent Laptop
This laptop replaced an HP Pavilion 17.3 laptop. 2002 model. It has been a workhorse, but I wanted to upgrade to a faster model.I have transferred all my files, and have had time to get to know this machine. I love it.Long battery live, fast charge, and fast start up. Surfing, playing videos, and downloads are fast, too.I also have a newer HP Pavilion desk top, with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor. It is fast. This HP laptop, with an i5 processor, is every bit as fast.I recommend this laptop to everyone, with the exception of extreme gamers.Great computer and a great price.

Like it except for 'offset' keyboard!
Likes: Super sharp display, very lightweight, has all connections I need, came with Windows 10 Home vs. 10S, very fast downloads and loading of web pagesDislikes: Main one is keyboard is offset to the left because of the 'numeric' keys (calculator style) which take up about 1/4 of the keyboard space on the right side. In addition to offsetting the main keyboard to the left side, this causes the touchscreen mouse to be offset left of center. If you work with your laptop in your lap (like I do), this offset takes some getting used to, especially the mouse screen. I have to be precisely on the correct spot to get the mouse to respond as I want it to. I hope that I will adjust to this difference in a couple of days. The only other thing is that I haven't been able to figure out how to transfer all of my files from my old Chromebook to this PC. Probably the 2 companies competing with each other is making this transfer more difficult than it needs to be? I tried setting up Dropbox on both computers, but I've never used that program before so I'm having to figure it out.

Sent me a laptop with a CPU upgrade
My laptop came with a note from HP saying that said they where out of stock of the I5 and upgraded me to....Processor AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics, 2100 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)Seems odd they changed CPU on me, but overall I pretty happy as it does seem like an upgrade. Laptop otherwise is as-ordered and working well. Screen is good. Keyboard has a nice feel to the button click. Everything in windows 10 working very fast, specially compared to the one this is replacing. Came with some software bloat, but was easily removed.

Perfect!
My old laptop suddenly just really slowed down (not bad for being 11 years old!) But I needed a new one and quickly. After doing a lot of research, I decided on the processor, features, and efficiency. This computer actually exceeded my expectations! It was listed as New and that's exactly how it came, new and unopened from the manufacturer. It's not the newest model but it's perfect for what I needed and in a hurry! 8GB, SSD, i5 processor (way better than my i3!) were what I absolutely needed. I was super excited when I opened it and there was a number pad on the right side of the keyboard! I'm not quite sure how to operate the touchscreen feature...I was under the impression that it was included but I could be wrong! Overall it arrived within 2 business days, and I'm very satisfied with it.

It's fast. Capable of handling multipe operations, multiple open tabs without dragging.
UPDATE 12-10-23: The battery charging port has failed. I can’t charge the battery unless the connection is just right. I use this laptop for work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. There are times I need the laptop plugged in charging while I work, but I can’t. This is unacceptable for my purposes. For someone who only needs a laptop for a few hours a day and then set it aside to charge, this one may work well. Cost was $80 to solder a new charging socket onto the motherboard.UPDATE: 10-6-23 I originally gave this laptop 4 stars. As others noted the plastic is thin and flexes. If I'm sitting up in bed sometimes it flexes causing commands to execute, ie, closing Word documents, closing internet browser, and closing video player. Over time, it's proven itself to be too flimsy for my use. I've never had this problem with sturdier laptops. The computer is thin, giving it an Apple Mac look. Being thin there is very little travel when depressing the keys. It means just brushing a key will wind up with the letter being typed. Many times, you’ll end up typing “thast” instead of “that” and "12" insteasd of "1". Another thing about the shallow key travel, typing with the tip of the fingers is jarring. A lighter tap with the flat of the fingers is more comfortable if you do a lot of work.Buying a computer loaded with Windows 10 wasn’t a problem. At around 30 days Windows Update notified me of an option to update to Windows 11 which I did do. Don’t forget to create a restore point immediately after upgrading to Win 11 because I don’t know if using System Recovery to reinstall the original Win 10 OS will allow an upgrade to Win 11 again. There are only 2 usb ports. They are so close together its necessary to use the slim metal sticks if you're transferring documents from one usb stick to another. ( I guess you could buy a usb hub as another way of coping with the 2 ports.)Other than the shallow keys and the 2 usb ports positioned too close to one another, there’s been no problem. Originally purchased Nov 18, 2021.
