Worst most inconsistent thermometer. I want my money back. What a complete waste of money. How do I return the product?

Wir haben das Thermometer seit gut drei Monaten bei unserer 1- und 3-jährigen Tochter in Benutzung. Heute morgen habe ich mich so sehr über die Ungenauigkeit geärgert, dass ich endlich eine Rezension verfassen möchte. Unsere Tochter ist leider krank. Mit einem normalen Thermometer rektal gemessen hatte sie 40,0 (dementsprechend heiss und krank war sie auch), das Braun Thermometer (korrekt zwischen den Augen ohne Abstand gemessen) zeigte 37,2 Grad an. Unglaublich. Das ist mir schon öfter passiert und das Gerät ist für mich so unbrauchbar, ich werde es nicht mehr nutzen.

Das Stirnthermometer ist extrem ungenau. Das zeigen auch andere Rezensionen. Wir hatten gehofft, dass unseres funktioniert und es für unser Baby gekauft. Aber die Abweichungen sind fatal. 38.0°C zeigt das Stirnthermometer, tatsächlich hatte unsere Tochter rektal gemessen und in der Klinik bestätigt 40.2°C. Das ist eine Katastrophe. Solch eine Ungenauigkeit darf nicht passieren. Es wurde korrekt auf der Stirn platziert. Auch die Referenzmessungen bei uns Erwachsenen gingen total schief mit 1,7 bis 2,2°C Differenz zur echten Temperatur. Ich kann es nicht weiter empfehlen, und werde es nicht weiter verwenden. Ärzte und Krankenhäuser empfehlen ausschließlich rektale Messung bis zu 6 Jahren, da weder Stirn noch Ohrthermometer bei Babies und Kleinkindern echte Ergebnisse liefern könnten.

We have had this a few days now with 2 sick children, the reading varies by as much as 1 degree centigrade, within seconds of each reading, both away from and on the forehead, it’s been a consistent problem, I just took the temperature of my child, ranging from 38.2 to 39.2C. All mean calpol. Do we believe the upper, lower or none of the readings. We are returning it, we have no confidence in the readings on the product. Very disappointed indeed. UPDATE: we have a Braun in the ear thermometer now, dearer, but works well. We kept this as a backup for a rough indication if we cannot get the in the ear thermometer in our children’s ears when they are unwell.

Unacceptably rubbish. Spurious, random figures. My gut feeling is this has been calibrated on adults or someone at least with a thicker skull and has optimised in favour of caution. Unfortunately that doesn’t make it any use. On a newborn it’s generating continually fluctuating temperatures from the exact right place just seconds apart. It’s useless, a stress inducer and required a great deal of rational, logical thought and calmness to overcome. Shameful. PLEASE do NOT buy this.

During the worst of C-19 pandemic I periodically checked my own temperature with an inexpensive under-the-tongue digital thermometer (but found it fairly inconvenient as it rarely gave a stable reading - waiting for the "beep" that often never came). An old mercury in glass thermometer was my fallback. Wanting to check my temperature a bit an easier, I thought this would be ideal.Well, it gives a quick reading (once it stops giving an ERR message - the room needs to be well above 15°C) but one that could easily lead to unnecessary concerns.It was showing me as having a fever at 38.2°C (consistent for several repeated readings). I'm not feeling "feverish" so used my mercury in glass thermometer to check: that gave a reading of 36.6°C. Waited 10 minutes and tried again: a nearer "normal" 37.2°C - but still a higher reading than what I think it should be.The convenience of a "no-touch" reading may be outweighed by the limited accuracy and repeatability.
