You control the speed of the fan, using this transformer, which can be set to any one of 5 different speeds.A raised airchamber base lets the fan remove air from the entire area (9-3/4" x 3.5") under the mounting plate.The fan unit adds only 1-1/2 inches to the width of your DVR, and only needs another 1/4 inch for airflow (1-3/4 inches total).Even when running at 1/2 speed, this fan unit can move a volume of air equal to least 10 times your Dish DVR per minute (once every 6 seconds!). THE COOLING SYSTEM INCLUDES: 1 x 80mm DISH DVR fan unit, 1 x multi-speed power transformer, and printed installation instructions. All cooling system parts connect together using special heavy-duty Molex quick-connect plugs, which allows the parts to be separated for easy wire-routing. SETUP: The fan unit attaches to the side of your DVR, using special adhesive snap-lock pads. You don't need to drill any holes -- just press the unit over the side air vents, and the pads will hold it in position. Cools great but
This fan does a great job of cooling even at low speed. The problem is the transformer runs so hot you cannot touch it.Update. The seller has replaced the transformer
