Informative and witty, a joy to read
A fantastic book from start to finish. Really captures the essence of fiesta in his writing making this an easy and great fun read. Milligan has built up a huge list of contacts over his years at fiesta and you can tell that each year he squeezes every last drop out of Pamplona and craves his return the next year. Bravo!

Fun, well-written and engaging.
An amazing story of brotherly love, friendship and adventure all woven through an amazing fiesta. Peter Milligan brings a unique perspective to an old, famed fiesta. The writing is inspired and you can feel the excitment and drama of bull running but he also takes care to include the details, rules and traditions of San Fermin and the encierro that often get ignored in the media. Fun, well-written and engaging.

Wankers and Yobs!
I just read the last page and closed the book this morning. Bravo! This was such a fun book to read and I learned several details I didn't know about running with the bulls. I also really enjoyed your descriptions about the Basque region around Pamplona. Peter Milligan's writing style made me feel as if I got to be part of the hijinks! My only wish is that you had extended the use of slang (especially British expressions) along with a dictionary at the end of the book. For instance, I know what a "wanker" and a"tosser" is, but what is the world is a "yob"?!?! Fun and informative book. I highly recommend it.

Milligan gives a thorough account of the San Fermines Festival ...
Milligan gives a thorough account of the San Fermines Festival (a 7 day fiesta which starts with a bull run each morning and ends with a bullfight each night). Not only does he explain the festival and relate personal stories from his running days, but he lets us know where to eat, stay and hang out.

The Book Written About the Running of the Bulls
I bought this book before I went to Pamplona to participate in the Fiesta of San Fermin and Run with the Bulls. This is a truly accurate description of the entire Fiesta, the bull run experience and how to enjoy the area during that time every July. At first, I read it with a grain of salt because i thought the author was self-promoting and making things sound more spectacular than they really are. Boy was I wrong. Peter really lays out the details accurately, down to the cafes, things to do, things to watch out for. We ran with the bulls several mornings and if I hadn't read this book, I may be trampled or worse. We enjoyed the town and surroundings and the book helped to optimize our time. I can now appreciate all of Peter's experiences, and let me tell you - my experiences were equally as spectacular because of this book. Thanks Peter for giving the world this cultural expose and guide to the Fiesta.

Great Help in Preparing to Go to Pamplona and Run
I bought this book to hopefully find some tips on how to run with the bulls this year (where to set up, how to train, etc.) and was pleasantly surprised to learn this and plenty more about Pamplona and the culture to fully enjoy the experience. His humor also helped keep the pages turning. Highly recommend. My only suggestion is that he take a crack at updating the book, because some information is getting dated. For instance, you don't really need to collect coins for the toll booths as they also take credit cards.I was also disappointed that Peter chose not to come to Pamplona this year (2019). I'm sure he had a good reason.

but how to fully enjoy your experience during San Fermin
If you've never been to Pamplona Spain, after reading Milligan's account of his adventures there, you'll be packing your bags and booking a trip. This is one of the most detailed books on not only how to run with the bulls, but how to fully enjoy your experience during San Fermin. He even throws in a little brotherly love for Ari along the way. GREAT READ ... BUY IT!

Knowledgeable, passionate, funny.
A lovely light writing style concealing a deep knowledge and passion for Pamplona, Milligan's book also has one of the most important virtues - it is funny!
