This book is written from an orthodox perspective which interprets every word of the Torah literally. If you believe this you will enjoy the book. If you have an open mind the author with try to convince you that his theory is correct.

Great book, it’s hardcover, and actually, I thought this book touched upon some very deep aspects. It helped clear up some of the doubts I had, and now I can say I perfectly believe in the one true God.

The books in this first volume are less focused on practical mitzvot (for that see the second volume) but rather on how to make sense of God and Judaisms relationship to the world and each person. There is also a useful section discussing why Judaism does not accept the claims of Christianity.

I first came about Kaplan's Real Messiah when a co-worker literally attacked me with a passage from Issiah and a family friend gave me this book when i talked about the incident.I can honestly say it was one of the first religiously oriented Jewish based book i ever read. It is amazing at how simple, yet intellectual Kaplan develops his arguments. I believe a lot of this comes from Kaplan's physics background. No doubt, Kaplan's physics background and his general brilliance allowed him to develop clear arguments that even I a secular person had to respect at the time.That incident was a few years ago and since then I have taken more interest in my Jewish learning. Kaplan's Anthologys' are a cornerstone of that learning.

Amazing book, if you want to learn about Jewish concepts Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan is one of the best! Well worth the cost.
