Our local district keeps starting back earlier every summer, so our back to school night with locker set up was 7/31 for my 8th grade son. The teenage attitude makes everything about getting ready for back to school that much larger.We received school supply lists that ran $300 a student (and that’s with reusing locker shelves, magnetic pens, mirror, clips, etc). I printed the list of supplies 2 days before when they were posted so I could get the best sales price possible. I used Amazon, Walmart online, Walgreens in store & online, Target, Menards and 2 different dollar stores all to be able to find every needed and get each store’s advertised door buster sales. I also reuse last years stuff as well. After all that crazy running around was done I was still unable to find the composition graph paper notebooks. None of the stores even had an open slot where these notebook should have been. None of the employees even knew what I recognized. I started to search Amazon and of course I was able to get multiple compositions graphing note books but they seemed to be around $7-15 each. We needed a total of 4 of the notebooks so that was just more than we could afford. I kept searching for multi packs and I finally found this 4 pack for under $15. Amazon to the rescue once again. We had the notebooks delivered to our house in less than 48 hours time, and better yet, I could finally be done with the lists. The 4 pack was a great value compared to what the same notebooks were selling for a piece. The wide ruled graph paper is 4x4 squares and is a standard measurement, like wide ruled notebook paper. The composition notebooks have a distinct difference from regular notebooks as the are not wire bound and have a distinct black & white pattern covering a large portion of the covers. The notebooks are however, a standard size, style, paper quantity and page count. In the past these composition notebooks have held up much better that the cheap spiral bound ones and can handle the abuse the get from being crammed into backpacks, dropped off a locker shelf, kicked along the hallway when the kid doesn’t feel like bending over to pick it up off the floor. As for usefulness, that depends on the student. I’m sure that many kids find them easy to work with and a lot faster than trying to draw something freehand. For my son, usefulness is in the eye of the beholder. He hasn’t even bothered to check to see which classes he’s supposed to be bringing them too (they are color coded to help), but he’s actually the kid kicking his notebook down the hall rather than just stop and pick it up. Hopefully this is the year that he decides he’s going to participate in class led discussions, do some homework and not miss school on test days. Finger’s crossed, being a teenage boy mom is a lot more challenging than I ever imagined.Anyway, just by this multi pack of these graphing notebooks and save yourself the grey hair and endless searches of local retail stores.

I love these composition books! The paper thickness is amazing! If you sit there and hold a gel pen on it, it won't bleed through. I use mine for journals, but you can use them for whatever you need them for. Great value and will most definitely order more when they're almost full! Great gift ideas as well!

Thickness perfect!

This is better than what else is available in the 4x4 ruled composition notebook. They are unusable to me though. I bought them to be a project bullet journal for work because I wanted larger squares than the Roaring Springs 5x5 version. And forget finding a 4x4 dotted composition book.Anyhow, the grids are too dark and I would prefer a more rigid cover. In all of my (stupidly hours) of research for finding something that would work, I have never seen a review that says the "grid lines are too light" for a product like this. How do companies think we use grid notebooks? We do need to see what were are writing in them.

Exactly what I wanted

I like these colored notebooks immensely.They’re fun to use and the set of colors is helpful for a quick glance to know what subject they are. The center of the book is sewn in which I like a lot. They are pricey but I use them for various things. I recommend you consider these.

I love the look of these composition books, especially the different colors which I will use for different semesters. I would have preferred college ruled, but only the wide ruled was next day shipping, and I needed them immediately.
