Understanding the true Gospel that will transform your life.
Mooney explains the reality that the first few chapters of Romans was written for. We experience God's righteousness by faith in what Jesus Christ has done on our behalf. Being religious by following the Law does not produce right living. It didn't in the religious people of that day any more than it does today. "Doing" does not produce "being". Coming to believe all Jesus Christ has given us as a gift will transform our lives!

Righteousness is a gift.
If you have ever been cofused with how law and grace work or the differences, then this book is a great one to read. The author goes to great lengths to get the reader to understand the connection between righteousness, the law and grace. Recommended reading in my opinion.

Walk a life of freedom in the Spirit.
Free your mind as your faith in Christ frees your soul. Realize that when Christ uttered the words "it is finished" He really meant that in reality. There is nothing more to be done, or that can be done. God will not accept your help to save you. Many are puzzled by Jesus's words in Matt 7:22-23. Don't be confused. Just realize that those Christ was condemning were those who were resting on their works as the basis to gain entry into the Eternal Kingdom. Christ will only accept the righteousness he provides as a free gift. This truth is fully developed in Mick Mooney' s book.If you have difficulty with this basic truth read this book!!

not a commentary, but great
This is not a verse by verse or even chapter by chapter look at Romans. It is only on grace, without the law. As such he took half the book to get past Romans 2. in a couple of chapters he actually spends more time talking about grace in the Gospels, Paul's other letters and the Old Testament than Romans. I do not consider this a flaw.He shows how trying to work for salvation didn't work for the Jews, and certainly can't work for us Gentiles. all are equally guilty, all equally need the free gift of salvation. And all can't get brownie points for the rediculous idea that we must follow law after salvation either.

A great and much needed book...
I received this as a freebie from Amazon and loved it. I found a few spelling errors here and there but nothing major and found the work to be an easy read that was chalk full of compassion for those who struggle with God's grace and the idea that we must complete a set of rules or bash people over the head with the bible in order to be given God's grace and love. I recommend this work to any who have difficulty understanding what Grace means and who also need to find freedom resting in the grace of God.

Good points are buried in redundancy!
There are some good points throughout this book, but honestly, all the good points are buried and entangled in "vines" of REDUNDANCY! He could have been a whole lot more simplified and shortened the entire work. IMHO, there was too much repeat!

No Need to Try to Live by the Law
Christ has set us free. So why do we feel we still have to live up to the 10 Commandments? We now live in the age of Grace and the Old Testament Law has been fulfilled and done away with. Learn to live in the freedom Christ purchased for us and break free from the guilt of not being able to live up to the Old Testament Law.

Back to basics
Loved this book. It reminded me of the basics of my faith in the sometimes confusing world. Good work Mick Mooney; it's the kind of writing we should all get back to to ground ourselves again

"The OT Law" is not "The Bible"
Be very careful. This author moves interchangeably between "the law" and "the Bible," leaving his readers confused. The OT Law was much more than a list of dos and don'ts, it was a system of worship and sacrifice to God that predated Christ's sacrifice on the Cross. The New Testament (27 books of "the Bible"), give us much instruction on how to live, as well as how to be elders in the church--which includes judging others behaviors and even exercising church discipline. One get's the impression from this book that "grace" is a license of some sort to live "in Christ" free from accountability of any kind to anyone, and "the Bible" certainly does not teach this. It is true that much of the church is enslaved to legalism, and there is a resurgence in our day of the Judaizers (who have never disappeared from church history), and both need to be avoided. But I don't believe the real answer is found in this book, as much as I was hoping it would be.
