That was really good
I read a couple of books a week; in a years time, I'll give out a maximum of two five-star ratings. This book is well-written, a bit gritty, and has heart. We all need an unrepentant protector in our lives. Well done, Mr Stagg!

Will be reading the next one
I'm glad I chose this book, & will be continuing the series. It took a couple chapters to grab me. But once it did, I had a hard time putting it down. The trial prep, investigation & courtroom drama is authentic & keeps you interested.

Nate Shepherd Legal Triller book 1 was good enough for me to read book 2
The book had compassion, humorous observations and interesting characters and a plot that had me hooked. I was glad I read this book.

Great Book
This was a terrific book. It caught my attention early on, and held on throughout the story. There never was a letdown or lag. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Wonderfully surprising!
My first shot at reading Michael Stagg, and I was not disappointed. At times, it was a little easy to read into the plot, but it was amazingly written, and I well appreciated all the emotion and stamina this read had.

Good read
This was well written, but sometimes it was a little wordy and I had to skim through some of the court parts.

I truly enjoyable read!
I rarely take the time to review a book but I felt compelled to in this case as I felt this was one of the best legal thrillers I have read in a long long time. And I read A LOT of them, lol. The writing was excellent, the characters well drawn out for the most part (some were a bit stereotypical, but the three main characters I felt were very unique in their own right and well put together), and I found myself getting drawn deeper and deeper into the story as the book progressed until i just had to finish it. It even moved me at times. I mean what more can you ask from a book, right?Best of all, there wasn't this amazing 'twist' at the end where the lawyer magically finds a key piece of evidence withheld from the reader the entire book, or suddenly thinks of something they had somehow missed the entire time to save the day. In essence, no Superhero ending that I often feel is so overused, just a great story taken to a solid conclusion through good writing. Highly recommended. Oh, and I have already downloaded the next in the series ;-)

better than expected
This was my first Stagg moves and I found it very entertaining while dealing with life and death issues. As an attorney, the legal aspects were authentic and the characters were very likable. It movedbat a good place and didn't get bogged down as so manymsuch novels can. I highly recommend it.

Terrific courtroom drama
I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this book and have subsequently bought the rest in the series. It’s well written with good characterisation and great courtroom scenes. I’m addicted to legal thrillers with lots of court scenes and this fills the bill. Not high literature but really enjoyable.

gripping!
The story is fast paced. You would think how can someone write a whole book on a slam dunk case… well read the book to find out! I liked the authors racy style of writing. - a cross between Michael Connelly Bosch series and John Grisham eye for details.

Great Read
My first book by this author and will definitely not be my last. I always have a smile on my face when I find a new author I like. One to the next in this series.

A good story with a moral
My first reading of a Michael Stagg book and it was one I really enjoyed. He takes you into the courtroom in a very realistic way and not like you see on the 1 hour tv shows. A story with a heart at its centre.

not perfect ..but
It was a good story, twists and turns, suspense. But the big plus was the 3 d generation of characters that were believable. The author made you care.
