Wonderful.
What a delightful book: a pop culture look at the typewriter, from conception to pretty much the death of this wonderful machine. I loved it, and was somewhat chagrined at how many of the typewriters and accessories that I have used over the course of my working life. Now, in retirement, I can read this lovely book and remember fondly.

The ads are fabulous and fun!
The Typewriter is organized by decade. However, she doesn’t follow a strict timeline, but rather explores a variety of topics unrelated to any specific decade. Which is fine, once you realize this is not really a history book, but rather a collection of advertising and the topics and decades are really just organizing folders for storing ad copy.

a delight. Thanks
I bought this book and an old underwood for my husband for christmas. The book came later and was well worth the wait. Several machines and toy machines in our house full of louche kitsch, including a typewriter owned by Al Purdy, are in the book, a delight. Thanks.

Sehr informatives Buch
Ein sehr schönes Buch mit zahlreichen Abbildungen und mit zeittypisxher Werbung. Leider sind (fast) nur amerikanische Maschinen abgebildet. Trotzdem ist es sehr interessant.
