Seven Brief Lessons on Physics by Carlo Rovelli - Hardcover

Great Quick Read
Amazing book and easy to follow. I particularly liked the first chapter about Einstein's Theory in which he was originally trying to find the field of gravity, and then discovered that SPACE is it. The books simplicity is very suitable for beginners and readers who are fascinated by physics/ astrophysics but not necessarily have un educational foundation.

Great thought invoking book for the layman
A very brief book packed with a punch. I recently hear Carlo on BBC Radio 2, he gave such a freat interview that I felt I MUST buy this book. As fellow reviewers have noted Seven Brief lessons is, given the subject matter, very easy to follow and grasp - it does stimulate you to read further and I've already watched other on-line tutorials depicting and explaining topics such as Gravity wells .Reading this book has opened so many other doors to this amazing universe.

Too short an superficial - Not worth the price.
This is a thin book that only covers the material at a very superficial level. The preface says that the material originally appeared as column in a newspaper Sunday supplement. The way it is written would work well in that context. On the other hand for anyone already interested in popular science they would probably already know most of the content in this book, making the whole thing poor value for money.

Overhyped dreadfully translated.
Don't know why I fell for the hype.. Would be even thinner without the first two pages of self advertisement. If this started as "poetry" (actually it was seemingly dashed off newspaper articles) it ended as more like ee cummings.. A mishmash of sprayed commas, incorrect conjunctions and split infinitives right from the preface.. Surprised penguin editors let such a poor translation past. The physics is of course superficial and reactive and none the worse for that, but I won't be passing this thin but lumpen-scanning overpriced thing to any non-science friends. Shame, as Carlo rovelli did good work and has written so much better better.. His translator "poets!" have, I suspect, let him badly down.

A great buy for a brief outlook on physics and the world we live in.
I have just started a BEng in mechanical engineering, started reading this brief book on Physics to just get a brief overview.Wow is all I can say, the way Carlo Rovelli writes and explains stuff is unprecedented, from chapter one to the final kept me wanting to know more about the different theories we have used in the last few hundred years! From Newtonian mechanics to Quantum mechanics and how recently the two are very much the same concept on life.

Very brief lessons
I probably could have written this during a rainy lunchtime between GCSEs
