Made with Kevlar brand fibers for backing and multiple latches for extra security, the Pelican Shield case does exactly what you would expect: shields your phone in 5 protective layers against whatever life throws your way. The shock absorbing interior shell and reinforced corners work together to create top of the line drop protection that exceeds military testing standards. It features a holster and an integrated kickstand to help you read or view your favorite movies. Easy access port covers provide an integrated layer of extra protection against the elements while still allowing all your phone’s features to remain fully operational.

I really wanted to like this case.
I'm familiar with Pelican from other applications. I think this would be a very protective case. There is 1 big problem and 1 smaller problem. The case is extremely slippery, I was almost unable to hold the phone without it slipping out of my hand. One review mentioned there was a thin rubber strip around the edge, this was not the case with the one I received. This was a deal breaker the case went back.Less importantly, but still an issue was the back of the case, first it looks like contact paper in person, I don't know what it really is, and it is a fingerprint magnet if that sort of thing bothers you.Give it a grip and a new back and I'd pay the 50.00 bucks again.

Strong. Beautiful.
This case is solid. I haven't done any extreme testing on it, because my phone is in it. But it feels great, and looks even better. The other reviewers that are complaining about the carbon fiber looking "cheap" don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. This case doesn't have carbon fiber. It has an aramid fiber layer that you can see on the back. If you look at it, and turn the phone side to side, you can see the texture of the kevlar fibers. Absolutely gorgeous design.

Not Worth The Price
The case is bulky and the buttons are hard to press (especially the Bixby button, which I mapped for another useful app but became pointless with this case on) . Lint is CONSTANTLY stuck in the seams and creases of the case (inner and outer) and honestly, there's just too many downsides to really see a positive in this case other than drop protection. It's uncomfortable to hold and I have pretty big hands. It's slippery. The headphone and charging flaps are cut poorly, and the buttons are fun to press or tactile. Save the money and just get the Pelican Voyager. It's a much better case, super protective, and the buttons are clicky and have a satisfying tactile click when you touch them.

Very good for active people
I'm really confident in my phone surviving a drop with this case. That hasn't been the case (pun intended?) with Otterbox defender or Spigen Tough Armor. At my job I look at confirmations that people show me from their phones all the time. I can say that I see a lot of cracked screens on phones with the Otterbox defenders on a regular basis. The Spigen Tough Armor is alright. My S8+ survived a couple of bad spills, but surprisingly, my screen cracked from a 1ft fall (because it did not protect the curved edges). Why this case is better:The case is raised on the sides where the screen is curved. While you have this case on, it makes the screen appear flat (in a good way) while keeping the side panel accessible.Unlike other "rugged" cases, you can take this one off easily without dealing with a bunch of layers or prying things open. The latches can be opened easily with your fingernail.I'm giving it 4 stars because the power button is tough to push. Volume and Bixby buttons are okay. This case will add heft, but I like it because it makes the phone easier to hold without accidentally pressing anything.I got it to take jogging with me without fearing a drop on asphalt. I also work in an industrial setting. As someone who is active, I'd recommend this case to anyone that doesn't feel like babying their phone.

Fantastic case, amazingly light and thin
I switched from an OtterBox to this, two things I really love about this, it's very thin in comparison to the OtterBox, the Galaxy S10 plus is a very thin phone but it feels like a hockey puck inside the OtterBox, pelican is very thin and probably half the weight, it really makes an amazing difference after using my phone in the other case for a year switching over. Also the beveled edges on this are much easier to access then on the OtterBox. as some other people have mentioned the buttons are a little less clicky, but honestly feels fine I would not be bothered by this at all, that is what deterred me from buying this case in the first place last year and I wish I hadn't listened to that criticism. The bottom covers for headphones and charger have tiny tabs are very nice and easy to pop open, you don't have to fight with them or stab something in there to pop it open if you can't get your fingernail in there like on the OtterBox. overall I think every aspect of this case is an improvement over the previous case I was using.
