Leves spoilersO primeiro arco (Rise of the Batmen) é bem interessante: nele o Batman recruta a Batwoman, aproveitando o background militar dela para treinar um grupo de vigilantes jovens (formado pela Órfã, Red Robin, Spoiler e Cara-de-Barro). O motivo depois fica claro: uma organização militar secreta chamada Colônia tem vigiado os heróis de Gotham, baseando todo o treinamento e tecnologia dos soldados no próprio Batman, com objetivo de criar um exército de homens tão bem treinados quanto o herói para servirem ao governo em missões de alto risco. Porém a Colônia tem um outro objetivo específico em Gotham gerando um conflito com o Batman.Em seguida temos as edições de Detective Comics relativas ao arco crossover Night of the Monster Men, que é bem fraquinhoPor fim, o último arco é o Sindicato das Vítimas. Um grupo de pessoas misteriosas, vítimas de ações dos vilões de Gotham, decidiram se unir para provar que o Batman é o catalizador que faz tantos loucos surgirem e a violência na cidade aumentar. A ação do Sindicato é bem hipocrita, fazendo ataques pela cidade para mostrar que as ações do Batman só começam e terminam em violência. Apesar da motivação um tanto sem sentido dos antagonistas, a história flui bem (já que essa motivação fraca foi criada propositadamente pelo autor e é melhor explorada em arcos futuros)

Probably the best Batman story line from DC's Rebirth. King's Batman and Snyder's All Star Batman are both solid runs and worth reading in their own right but Detective Comics is just in better form so far. I don't want to say too much about the story for fear of spoiling it for anyone but suffice it to say that the artwork and writing are top notch.This Deluxe Edition covers Volumes 1 and 2 of the trade paperbacks which cost in the neighbourhood of $20 a piece. Since this edition covers Detective Comics 934-949 it also covers part of Night of the Monster Men (941-942) in between Volumes 1 and 2. The story is summarized well enough to read it with no issues; I hear the actual Night of the Monster Men is rather disappointing, so it might be best to just read it here.Even at the cover price of $45.99 this is a really good way of reading the first two volumes of Detective Comics because you pay roughly the same as both volumes together but you get them in a beautiful hardcover. However, Amazon has this listed at around $38 right now, and I doubt it'll go north of $40, and that gives this the best value over the other collecting options (Back Issues/Trades).
