Science: A Discovery in Comics Hardcover – September 1, 2013

My 9 year old is really enjoying this book. She loves comics and graphic novels so we thought this would be perfect for her to start learning about the history of science and the different branches of science. She enjoys reading it out loud to her little sister, so they both are leaning from it.This book packs so much information, I am sure she will use it as a quick reference and refresher when she is older.

The dialogues are full with usefull information, the drawings are very explicit, a good narrative and a great story

A must read if you are interested in knowing how science develops. I strongly recommend it for people of all ages.

Readers familiar with the works of Larry Gonick will regret buying this book. While it contains a few interesting historical timelines (in particular, the summary of the middle ages is rather good), in general, it is poorly researched and extremely superficial. A number of pages are wasted trying to explain what science is, to explain that the authors dropped out of school - apparently to motivate similar individuals. It seems unlikely that any readers will be interested in this. Further pages are wasted on a feature trying to show that women are under-represented in science - with a poorly-researched and inaccurate depiction of Rosalind Franklin and DNA.
