Worth every penny. Here's some things to help you decide.
I don't typically do reviews for anything I buy, but this was a huge purchase and I figured I could help someone else pull the trigger. I'm a musician and filmmaker, and bought this camera to continue raising the quality of my films. Coming from the Panasonic GH5 (one of the most popular prosumer cameras), the difference is night and day.The menu layout is ridiculously easy to understand compared to the multi-menu mess that DSLRs offer. The built-in ND filters eliminate a ton of additional purchases and work you'd need to do with other cameras (making a matte box even more optional). The footage is spectacular straight out of the camera, and you can notice the increased dynamic range immediately. The footage I've included is not even at 4.6K, that's 4K DCI at 12:1 compression (the lowest quality 4K the camera offers) because I was working on SD cards at the time. The camera accepts 2 CFast cards, 2 SD cards, and offers a USB-C plugin for recording to SSDs. It comes naked, so you'll need to get all the accessories you'd expect. This includes the battery and plug portion of the power cable, since they only send you the top part of it. That may be the biggest caveat here. If you're buying a $6k camera you won't be surprised by this though. Beats kitting out a RED by a huge margin.Lastly, it looks and feels like a smooth tank. It's extremely well-built and holding it makes you feel like a real cinematographer. Never underestimate the power of feeling legit while you create. Also if you're not using DaVinci Resolve to edit yet, make the switch. Just trust me on this. They have free training videos on their site and it's the best software there is. This camera brought me into the big leagues of the cinema world.
