Ten years of Shame solved witthis qwork product
My Bad....call it lazy, ignoring the problem or just right out foolishness .....Yes I avoided changing my Water heater Anode (see photo of my shame)..I knew better but I wasn't..However I finally got around to it...So what did I learn?Well, old uncared for anodes are tough bruisers to get out, the factory cranks them down to insure that rust doesn't get in the threads and keep the anode doing it's job. The Impact wrench I got from Amazon on sale, saved my bacon! So change your water heater anode every 2 three years or so with this well made, easy to install Qwork anode..it's a life saver for your expensive to replace water heater...Fortunately I found this neat Anode on Amazon for a price that can't be beat. Under $27!! With super fast shipping. I lucked out and after ten years no water heater leaks found. I couldn't be happier So thank you seller and as always AMAZON!!!! One other thing, don't use pipe dope or tape on the threads as the new anode needs to be in contact with the housing to set up the anode being degraded instead of your water heater.. So dont insulate the threads or the consuming reaction of the magnisium rod wont happen.

Very happy - easy install
I hadn't replaced the anode rods in our water heater since it was installed (over 10 years ago) and was very worried how bad the old ones would be when I pulled them out. Thankfully it wasn't too bad at all (for the one I replaced). However, that old rod is the solid one piece and I was able to just get it out as it was bumping up against the ceiling in my basement.I used a hack saw to cut this new rod down to the correct size and it went in very easily. The old rod was difficult to get out, as half the threads fused in the fitting. This required re-threading the fitting in the water heater. After that was done, I used teflon tape over the threads of this new rod, screwed it in, and gave a couple taps with my impact drill to tighten it up.The second rod is in a more difficult location to access, so I'll replace that one at a later time. I purchased two of these, so when I get the impetus, I'm ready to go.

Easy and great install

Worked as expected.
Installation was easy. I used a Dewalt battery powered torque wrench to remove the old one with no problem. Then a wire brush on a drill to clean up the threads and it went in with no problem. 20 minutes start to finish.

It appears to be magnesium, but not sure what type of stainless steel the cable is made from
The product looks good (good threads and the head fits a 27mm socket) and the anode appears to be magnesium, but I'm not sure of what material the cable is made from. I'm hoping it's quality stainless steel. I've posted a question asking about it and will update the review if the seller responds.I've seen reviews for other anode rods with pictures of rusty cables) and that concerns me, as the type of stainless steel is not mentioned in the product information. The cable exhibits a strong response to a magnet, but that doesn't mean much until the material composition is known. It would be nice if sellers would post a picture of the material certificate that shows the composition of the metal used in their cable.
