The Seresto 8-month flea and tick collar for large dogs provides continuous 8-month flea and tick protection. Unlike oral flea and tick prevention products that require fleas and ticks to bite your pet to work, Seresto flea and tick collar for large dogs kills fleas and ticks through contact—no biting required. Seresto flea and tick prevention is also available for cats. Seresto flea collar for dogs is water resistant and remains effective after swimming, shampooing, or exposure to rain or sunlight. (Dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for flea control, and reduced to seven months for tick control.) Seresto Flea and tick collars for large dogs contain two active ingredients: Imidacloprid to control flea infestations and flumethrin to repel and kill ticks. These active ingredients are slowly and continuously released in low concentrations, spreading from head to toes, even the tail, over your dog’s coat and skinch Seresto 8-month flea and tick collar for large dogs can be used alongside other identification collars. Avoid the hassle of messy monthly treatments and get the effective protection of Seresto flea and tick collars.

Keeps ticks and fleas at bay
I have been using this on my dog for several years now. Have never had an issue with ticks or fleas on him. The dog I had before him used to pick up ticks quite easily, so this is not a case of absence of ticks in the neighborhood. There may be difference between breeds, so cannot rule that out.

The packaging and collar look exactly like the authentic one
I was sent a counterfeit product which was verified as a counterfeit by Bayer, the manufacturer of Sereto. The packaging and collar look exactly like the authentic one. The only way to know if you received a counterfeit product is to call Bayer directly. You will need all the packing material which is the can and the plastic wrap. These items have codes that Bayer can use to determine the authenticity of the collar. I purchased this collar because the previous one I ordered did not last 8 months. After 6 months my dog had a tick on his back so I immediately reordered another collar and put it on him in December. When I was inspecting the can I noticed the 01-2017 date and thought it was expired. I then called Bayer and they confirmed that I received a counterfeit product. I did not save the previous can so I'm not sure if that one was also defective but I assume it was since it did not last the full 8 months. I received a full refund of the product after I reported the issue.

A word of warning, your experience may be different
I think this collar is an acceptable option for those who are skeptical on how well monthly topical solutions perform. Especially on the third or fourth week of use with those competitors. In my experience now with three different dogs wearing these collars, I have only found ticks a few times, and this is normally around the seventh or eighth month of use. This is my indication that it is time to change the Seresto Collar. After two years of using Seresto I will not be purchasing these again. Two of my dogs have developed a terrible reaction to the chemicals that resulted in a nasty rash that needed treatment with antibiotics to prevent infection. They developed these rashes over time perhaps due to the gradual exposure to the chemicals. Chemicals the collars are designed to release to prevent fleas and ticks. I assumed my first dogs reaction was just a unique experience, but the most recent happened just this past week of 01/09/17. I will not let it happen a third time. It is effective at what it does, but as might be the case for some users and their pets, it might be too effective.

STAY AWAY FROM SERESTO COLLAR.
People are rite. My little dog started having seizures so I was told she needs an MRI. I spent $3,300 to have one done and found out parts of her brain are completely gone. I have posted a picture of her MRI so everyone can see for there self. All the white spots except for the two round spots in the middle are missing brain. Since I took off the collar she has had no seizures at all. I did wash her with dawn dish soap to remove any residue from her skin as well. Stay away from these collars. I have spent $22,000 in vet bills so far. I would take this very serious. That’s why I added my little ones MRI so you can see the damage this stupid collar has caused.

Australian Shepard develops alergic reaction
Our Australian Shepard developed severe itching and became very irritable after installing this Bayer Flea and tick collar. She started running into walls in our home and became very delirious. Contacted Bayer on their emergency telephone number on a Sunday afternoon and they were very helpful. Had to bath Zoey three times with Dawn detergent and remove the other collar off of Gabby, who had no reaction, but had the oil from the Bayer collar. Poor Gabby also had to be bathed three times with Dawn detergent. After three more days Zoey fully recovered. Be very careful with this collar. It put us through pure hell.

BEWARE
I started using the Seresto Collar for my 115 lb dog because he had reactions to the Trifexis and Nexgard. The first collar worked great, no fleas for about 7 months. Order another one and was very disappointed, didn't seem to work as well. Ordered a 3rd one because I felt I had no choice since the reactions to the oral flea meds. After about 2 weeks after using the 3rd one, I noticed some neurological problems. He was weak in the rear legs, lethargic, had a head tilt to the left and unable to control his BM. At first I thought it was his age, he will soon be 12 years old. I removed the Seresto collar just to see if it was a reaction. I gave him a bath with Dawn dish soap to remove any of the chemicals from the Seresto collar. After 12 hours, he was much improved, after 48 hours he was almost back to normal. I just called the Bayer Company to report what had happened and the rude woman on the phone told me that there was NO WAY the Seresto Collar caused any of the symptoms. Almost like she was shaming me for blaming the collar. Be very careful if you decide to use this collar. I have been searching the internet to see if others have had this problem, there are a lot of the same stories out there, not just mine. BEWARE almost lost my dog with this collar and Bayer will not listen, so guess I am out all that money as well. Google Seresto Collars and hang on for all the nightmare stories.
