This is heat transfer vinyl. You need 851/permanent vinyl.

Q: My stack of vinyl came with a sheet of gold colored fabric. What is this for? Just a seperator?

Use the gold Teflon sheet or a piece of parchment paper when using iron on vinyl. Place the Teflon or parchment on top of the vinyl and then you can iron or heat press. They are protecting your design and iron.

Q: Is this dishwasher safe on a coffee mug

This is for fabric, it would come off due to heat in a dishwasher, If you iron this on a mug you need to seal it with mode podge and hand wash.
