Excellent book on the fundamentals
In short - I think 20 years from now this book will still be valuable.Do you know what vision is? What is color? How do living organisms see? How do "computers" see? This is an awesome book. Unlike most other text books aiming to cover the same material, Birchfield did a phenomenal job painstakingly covering both the depth and breath of this huge field without drowning you first in 400 pages of linear algebra and other "foundational" math, only to confuse you with 250 pages of extra-densely-packed "meat and potatoes" content. I love how in this book necessary math is introduced in the context of the problems that are being discussed, as opposed to ahead of time. By no means do I suggest that the book is not mathematically challenging, but the route the author took to introduce those challenges is a lot more sensible than the traditional approach. The book itself is just a pleasure to hold and page through. Very nicely organized and illustrated, lots and lots of visual content and clear language. It does not go too much into deep learning, but there is a lot you need to know apart and before applying deep learning to vision tasks - and this book has you covered.Kudos, this must have been a monumental effort for a single author to produce such great material.

Good but can be better !
The author has a knack to make simple things look really complicated with unclear instructions. Most confusing book ever !
