Feels good, looks really nice, seems like it will last (it does have a 5 year warranty)
I looked at 3 telescoping rods to replace my old ReadytoFish telescoping rod and real combo. I settled on this Quantum Embark model to pair with my Zebco 33 Platinum reel (Quantum now under same ownership as Zebco). I also looked at the smaller Quantum telescoping rod, and a KastKing. The smaller quantum just didnt feel sturdy, and the KastKing while it felt like a quality product, and was the shortest of the bunch collapsed, didnt feel right in my had, as the handle portion is small/short.This Embark model feels right, looks great with a nice matte finish on the main rib sections, the grip is long enough for the whole hand, and I like the fact that you can actually push and lock closed some of the telescopic sections (there is no lock mechanism, rather they just fit tight when closed) which means I can use this in tight casting spaces, and when you close it, it stays closed. The KastKing sections seems to slide too freely in and out when extending and collapsing. The only thing I wish this had that the other 2 did, was a metal cover over the reel top lock down ring.Ill comment back once I actual get out and use it.The 5 year warranty was the clincher for me, since these telescopic robs can have some inherent weakness being in sections.

More durable but cheaper than the kastking
First, don't buy the KastKing, you'll be replacing the tip. But for this Quantum rod the tip is very good and has that ugly stick type tip. However the reel screw is a cheaper plastic. Not the worst I've seen but its below average and I had to keep tightening it. The line guides is what I really don't like. They're just thin metal loops. Its not smooth and I don't have a good feeling about them. Also, there really should be another guide at the tip as the line will go below the rod at the tip on a fish bend.If the KastKing had the Quantum Tip, that would be the perfect budget telescoping rod.

So far so good
Initial impressions are great. For the money it's hard to beat this rod. Decent grade graphite with a solid fiberglass tip section, exposed blank reel seat, light, has a great feel/action (honestly feels like a 2 or 1 pc). Feels closer to a fast action then moderate fast,, but thats just whipping it around in the living room.. Paired it with a Mitchell 308 which according to the manufacturer is a 2000 size reel but is closer to my 2500s and it feels veryyy well balanced. Honestly haven't used it yet but I can't wait to.. I gave it 4 stars cus the 1st one I received, the fiberglass tip was extruded kinda wonky and wasn't straight or smooth(thank God for prime lol) replacement was perfect so check it on yours and make sure its good. Can't expect perfect quality control on a 30$ rod so I won't totally fault quantum especially when they would have replaced it themselves and they offer a very reasonable warranty on it.. def wayyyyy better than any other telescopic rod in its price range I guarantee that. Otherwise you'd honestly have to spend 75-125 to get something just slightly better
