The Power of Scrum

An awesome book that tells a tale of struggle and triumph anyone in the IT field can relate to.
Awesome book!!!This is the first and only technical book I have read that actually unfolds like a good story, with the dilemma, a possible white knight, the resistance, struggle and eventual triumph that anyone in the IT industry can relate to.Nothing sounds so far-fetched, even (SPOILERS!!!) a laptop flying across the office and getting embedded in a wall! What I find amazing about it is how it introduces the concepts and principles of SCRUM in a way that makes it easy for anyone to apply in a lot of projects. The fact that SCRUM ensures you get early feedback in the project before you are neck deep in the wrong pool is worth the investment in adding this to your library.Anyway, 'nough said!!Get this book if you want to see ways that this thing called SCRUM can potentially save you millions in wasted resources while allowing you deliver a final product on time, within budget and possibly much better than originally envisioned.

Cut the fluff
This was an assigned text in business school for me this semester. I get what the authors were trying to go for in making the concepts a part of a story; I admire their effort to make the book conversational in nature rather than dry. However I'd prefer to cut all the fluff- descriptions of dinner, fake conversations- and just give me the MEAT.For this reason, this book has become a skimmer for me rather than a text to read thoroughly. I read the summary of concepts at the end of the chapters first, then filter through all of the attempts at storytelling to get deeper. But really, just give me the MEAT!

Complete and to the point on Scrum process for Agile
Very succinct story style approach to understanding Scrum...although strong on a couple of points about Project Managers as being "bossy", which is not what PM's are supposed to be - more Servant Leadership is our style and successful at it - the story still gets the point about the Scrum approach to Agile across....and so much so we ordered 30 books for our company's top and second in line management for building this process from the top down...while already seeing success at the project level first!!!

A great intro to Agile/Scrum
A fun little book, quick to read, about the reasons why Scrum may be a good idea for you. Based on a mock story, it goes through the mind shift needed for its implementation.

Good Intro to Scrum
Jeff, has written a great, short, to-the-point book about how to move a project to agile. The book is short n sweet but delivers its message quite well. The story is engaging and the character build up is fine. This is a great book. If you are thinking of starting an agile journey, do yourself a favor and get this book as the starting point. You will not be sorry.

Interesting story that gives a good Scrum overview
This is a pretty painless way to introduce yourself to the basics of Scrum. Styled after the book series on the Theory of Constraints by Elijahu Goldratt, "The Power of Scrum" presents a manager who's close to losing his job because the management process his software development team uses is ineffective, when a chance meeting with a process expert leads him to a new and happy future. This books isn't quite as well-written as the Goldratt books, but it's entertaining and educational. I highly recommend this as your first step into the world of Scrum. Don't expect this to be your go-to reference for techniques or potential pitfalls, but it'll help you get started.

Great story and amazing book
The story presented is simple, but full of learning. I fell that this book can open your eyes in regards to agile mostly if you are a senior leader in your company with power to decide a change to scrum.

Good Especially for Those Starting To Use Scrum
It was a very easy read and it is a strong and entertaining affirmation of the Scrum Framework laid out in the Scrum Guide. If you are planning to take a certification it won't hurt to read this. Each chapter lists a group of 'essentials' and important concepts are in bold. I had a CSM certification and now I just passed the PSM I with a 90%.

Nice short story, clear explanation of Scrum
Very good introduction to Scrum, in just 80 pages or so. The use of Scrum is explained in a story about a software COO running a project using a waterfall method, which has lead them into big problems with an important customer. For me the story was recognizable and entertaining. After reading I feel really enthusiastic about Agile methods: don't fight changing expectations and specifications, but accept them and change the way you work.

Great book!
This is a great book... Instead of explaining details of Scrum in a strictly technical way, the authors created a novel, where all the process overview and details are shown by real life examples, including personal problems, misunderstanding, and all the stuff you've got when you bring something to real life. It's about a company having serious problems to finish a software project, with employees seeing their jobs fading away..... And how this company recovered from complete failure to success by deploying Scrum into the process with the help of a consultant.A really really good point of view for those people who are studying the feasibility of starting Scrum in their companies or projects.

Fantastic reading, good introduction to SCRUM and good "put in practice" concept
Instead of going into the academics of SCRUM, the author uses an story about a software project in trouble to explain what is SCRUM, the roles used and how to use them.Nice to read and good recomendation as a first lecture to any manager being told about SCRUM for the first time.
