Marvel Avengers Assemble [DVD]

Brilliant
I took the advice of several other posters on here and imported the uncut 2 disc version and loved every minute of the full film. It is the culmionation of a very long wait to see Earth's Mightiest superhero team hit the big screen - the original comic, which I bought at reelase in September 1963, featured a team that did not have Captain America in it, as he was introduced in issue number 4. Still, there was also Antman in that one and the Wasp and rumour has it that they will be in a separate movie next year. Well worth the money - £19 - and both discs play on my Blu-Ray player, though I may at some point have unlocked mine to be region free, and they both play on my computer too. Full screen image is good despite the nay-sayers on here who moan about the aspect ratio. Extras are okay, though not a vital selling point for me - I just wanted an uncut version. Yes, Disney need to re-think the way that they treat the UK fan base and a proper digital copy would have been good to have, but hey-ho, I have what I wanted and will play it a lot. Happy days.

A great action movie
What I like the most about this DVD is that it brings together a team of all-star actors; to fight a common for. With Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury and Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, this movie will keep you gripped from start to finish. It is a great action movie, with stunning CGI; and well deserved of the full five stars I bestow on it! Thankyou

Big Budget... But What A Waste Of Acting Talent
So, right, yeah... this is not really my kind of film and I thought I'd better point that out. However, sometimes, youy feel like watching some different something that might excite in a different way and I had heard so much about this franchise I thought I'd try it out for myself.Having said that this is a film much as I might have expected lots of CGI chasing and fighting and overloaded with, admittedly, impressive special effects these help to fill the void left by a non existent story of aliens coming to take over Planet Earth. The sort of story that was laughed at in the 'B' movies of the sixties but given all this new technology it now gets the big money behind it.Yet, a lot of cash must have been wasted. Jenny Agutter is a really good actress with a careers worth of starring performances in very good films. I think she had one line in this. I'm not criticising the actress but she will not come especially cheap and I'm sure some-one from my local amateur dramatics could have delivered that one line. Similarly, I have loved Scarlett Johannsson since 'Lost In Translation' but why have someone of that acting calibre when all she has to do is look good in a tight Jump suit, run around a lot and have a concerned 'this could be the end of the world' look? Scarlett is obviously a good fit for the first of those requirements but doesn't do the running or looking concerned particularly well yet will have been paid a fortune. Good for her but not necessary for the film.The film has a great cast especially in the smaller roles and up to to the star names of which Robert Downey Jr excels, Tom Hiddlestone is good and Chris Hemsworth not so good. There is also occasionally some and witty dialogue but that t allowed space too often.Like I said it is a film not made for myself and I am left wondering why they spent money on actors and a script when it is apparent they really wanted to make a all action flight and fight film that could have been made without the use of real people in the roles.

An Excellent film even though it is the fractionally edited version ...
An Excellent film even though it is the fractionally edited version which yes is annoying, but I knew this when I bought it so no complaints. We know by now that there is a moment in this were a scene has been digitally edited, but no actual time or scenes are missing from the movie. I'm glad I purchased this version as it has the second disc which thank goodness had a feature length set of features on it which is more than most copies of this film have. I have watched both and can honestly say thank goodness Brits had this version available to us as most of the special features are missing of most other versions of this film.Recommended

Avengers = action.
Being a bit of a fan (!) of Marvel I ordered this & I have certainly not been disappointed. The acting is excellent with each character bringing their own special something to the mix & the CGI. . . . .! I think with the amount of times I've watched this now the disc must be going thin! The film can stand on it's own but I believe seeing some of the solo character films, (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America & Hulk) does make some of the comments much easier to understand. Absolutely fantastic though, think I may have to go & watch it again! Can't wait for the next one.
