Balthazar are pleased to announce details of their new album 'Thin Walls' on 30th March 2015 through Play It Again Sam. Headed by the songwriting /vocal mainstay of Maarten Devoldere and Jinte Deprez, Balthazar make a welcome return having traversed the world in support of their previous album, 2012's 'Rats'. 'Thin Walls' marks a departure for the quintet in so much as it was written whilst touring and the resultant ten tracks depict the band at their most instinctive. Furthermore, having self produced both previous albums, 'Thin Walls' was recorded in the UK at Yellow Fish Studios in Lewes overseen by Ben Hillier (Blur, Depeche Mode, Elbow) and Jason Cox (Massive Attack, Gorillaz). 'Then What', the first single - a tale of being so desperately in love that you realize your happiness depends on someone else - sets the tone, nestling amongst like minded stirring vignettes, a beguiling snapshot of life, on an album that takes Balthazar to bold new places.

Still great.
While a definite improvement over their 2nd album it doesn't completely capture the intensity of their debut album. Still light years ahead of other bands and I hope they cross the pond sooner than later. There is a few welcome departures when it comes to song writing and style this time around and if you're familiar with this band Tull be pleasantly surprised.

a sophisticated swirl of darkly accessible indie rock
3rd album from this Belgian band is a sophisticated swirl of darkly accessible indie rock with big beat-driven, orchestral blasts of sensually epic intensity led by Maarten Devoldere’s sleazy-slurred, dramatic vocals. The songs are deceptively entreating, with a mesmerizing core of club-groove smoothness that’s balanced by a mysteriously compelling, embraceable energy riding on raw swells of open-hearted passion. You might hear similarities to Black Strobe, dEUS, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear…with Leonard Cohen’s sense of romance and anguish. With beautiful production and a warm—if slightly torn—heart, absorbing “Thin Walls” is like sitting in a lush & plush chair that surrounds you with a vaguely uneasy sense of comfort and fulfillment. I like it here. Recommended.

Brilliant 3rd outing
These guys are getting better and better, with all the promotion this album has had and the rave reviews in the UK it's amazing they have not broken through to the big time yet.

Couldn't buy this at the time of seeing them in Glasgow, as their van had been pulled over for being over loaded!A worthwhile addition to my CD collection.
