Really nice pen for journal writing in cursive.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I bought it. It’s not as flexible as I was hoping for and I probably won’t be able to do real fancy type writing with it in my journal. It does bend enough to write fancy letters but it takes a fair amount of deliberate pressure which means large letters and super slow writing. I really wanted something I could write in cursive with quickly and have more of a calligraphy look to it. So I’ve been using it like my other fountain pen and it works real nice in that way. I bought the black brand name ink made by the same company. The ink was super easy to put inside. The pens cap screws on so after not using it for a few weeks the ink on the nib tip was still wet so I didn’t have to clear it like some other fountain pens so that’s awesome. It does have a weird minty type smell but it’s not that bad. It is a bit short but if you put the cap on the end of the pen it’s longer of course and has better balance then. I’ve really enjoyed writing with it. I will update my review if my feelings/experience changes.

Finicky set up for those new to fountain pens but great value
This is an amazing pen, especially at the price point. The nibs generally write smoothly - especially with a light touch and a lubricated ink - and allow for a good amount of flex. Whether running the pen as an eyedropper, piston, or from the 308 cartridge, the pen has a large capacity of ink. An exceedingly simple design, toolless takedown, ease of modification, and the price should make this pen last well after the maker's left the world. And the maker designed it to do just that without breaking the bank.Cons:The cap's one piece design as a cap means the pen will evaporate more than a more complicated (more costly or not as robust) cap. It also isn't a click-type cap, meaning you'll have to waste precious life seconds doing do whenever you want to write or doodle or what have you, and it means posting the cap onto the rear of the body may not always feel the most secure. All this said, the pen can be finicky to set up. Nathan Tardif, the gentleman behind Noodler's, has an excellent video on YouTube wherein he lays out some basics on set up. His handle there's inkneedlastforever if you want to watch directly. At times, though, he can ramble on. I'll summarize some of the bits I've picked up from he and other retailers of the pen below if you're having trouble getting started. Embarrassingly, I was one of those people. When one first gets the pen, if this is ones first fountain pen one should familiarize oneself with the instrument either through a video by s knowledgeable person like Tardif or a third party retailer like Goulet, or, if you get a good set, the instructions. Now that you're familiar with the basics, go ahead and take your own apart to the basic components and clean it with some soapy dishwater and then rinse and let it dry. In the future, an old toothbrush or the side of a piece of cardstock can help you clean out the ebonite feed's lines, by the way. So with the pen dry, you're going to either figure out whether you want to run the pen as an eye dropper or a piston pen. If you're running an eyedropper, you may have more problems with burping and such - although I no longer have them - particularly if you're writing a great deal as the heat radiates much more directly from your hand through the body to the air bubble atop the ink, whereas there'd be a dead spacer if you ran a piston set up. Anyway, you take and you reassembly the pen. The trickiest part is going to be putting the feed and nib in the pen. So look at the unit those go in. There's a little notch for the nib to be pressed against. So, align the nib and the feed such that gap between the nib's tines and the channel running along the feed are centered. With them centered on each other thus, align the two such that the feed and nib nearly align or do align where the shoulders of each begin. Then grab that firmly so it doesn't move as you push the two into the pen with the nib going into the little space Nathan left you. Do not try to press the two any further than that nib bottoms out or you will have problems.
