We Will Rock Our Classmates

Penelope does indeed rock it. The casual cultural diversity of the students, the positive message, and the art would be enough to buy this for, but the Easter eggs left for the parents push it over the top.Fans of previous Penelope or Bruce the Bear books will love this addition and new fans will find themselves with a renewed scepticism of goldfish named Walter.

We own a number of Ryan Higgins books and his first book in the Penelope series, "We Don't Eat our Classmates" is possibly the #1 favorite book that I read together with my 6-year old (Higgins' "Mother Bruce" is also a perennial favorite).My daughter loved the first book and loved receiving this one for Christmas. It's better than many sequels tend to be and she was very excited the first few times we read it, but it's also faded quicker that some of our other favorite books. It deserves a place in your library if you really like Ryan Higgins, but if your collection is a little smaller, I would start first with one of his other books.

This book definitely was not as good as the first. It was a little laggy and hard to follow. My 5&6yr olds were confused and lost interest pretty quickly. Although we were very happy to see walter the gold fish again, all in all, i was pretty bummed at this book.

We LOVE Penelope (and Cece Woodman) and we thrilled for a sequel. It is an adorable book (although not quite as good as the first) but definitely still worth the purchase to add to our book collection. The pictures are adorable and we love the funny little notes and comments through the book. My 2 year old enjoys it but my 4 year old loves them!

The kids (4 & 6) love We Don't Eat Our Classmates. This just arrived today and I LOVE it. Every bit as good at the first one, in my opinion. I love the encouraging message in it.
