I liked the effects of the shampoo but cannot abide the smell. It's like an incompatible combination of herbs and possibly age of the product (could not find expiration date if it has one). After two subsequent shampoos I can still smell it in my hair. I tried to combine it with another shampoo but it did not mask the odor. Maybe it's just this bottle as other reviews comment on "nice" smell/aroma. I'd like to use it but can't figure out how to avoid the smell and lingering effects.

My current favourite for when I don’t feel up to using a from-scratch mix of Amla, Shikakai, Reetha, etc. Brings some shine and volume. I’m not sure how much of the ingredients’ potential hair-growth benefits can happen during a mere wash, and would recommend a mask instead.The shampoo dries out my scalp and fine hair a little, so I use a minimal amount of shampoo diluted in water to wash my hair, and afterwards a scalp rinse with a few drops of oil.Like with other Ayurvedic/Indian herb shampoos there’s a distinctive smell. And it’s best to let your hair dry before using a comb or brush. The shampoo tends to work best in combination with other low/no poo options. If you’re using mainly conventional hair care, this might feel odd at first.

Have been using other Davis products for over a year and stumbled upon this shampoo. So happy with it. Smells lovely and only a small amount needs to be used. It is quite thick so at times difficult to get out of the bottle using the cap. If this happens, I just take the cap off and use it that way. My hair looks and feels soft and healthy and my scalp has a real tingle after shampooing. Highly recommend this shampoo and will be using it faithfully.
