An elegantly designed speaker with great performance
I have always been a huge Bang and Olufsen fan and I have multiple speakers from this brand as well, so I'll just subjectively rank it from what I have (including Apple Homepod for perspective) with different aspects:Sound field: A9 4th gen > Beosound Edge > Beosound Balance > A9 MKI > Beosound stage > Beosound 1 > HomePod > A6Bass: Beosound Edge > Beosound stage > A9 4th gen > A9 MKI > Beosound Balance > A6 = HomePod >= Beosound 1Mid~high range(piano, vocal, etc) Beosound Edge >A9 4th gen> Beosound Balance > A9 MKI = Beosound 1> A6 > HomePod > Beosound stageWhen you open the box, the first thing you might think maybe "this is a lot bigger than what I thought". Even after recording this video, I realized that it seems so little in size from almost all of the reviews or pictures, but actually its quite large, in fact, it's even larger than a Homepod. I know that solely talking about the size of the speaker wouldn't matter much, but the original focus of this product is to be portable because it has a battery in it. Judging by portability, I have to say, this is not your choice if your looking for a sleeker, more elegant beolit 17 substitute. It has no straps or handles for you to carry. And to be honest, since battery life was put into consideration when desgining this speaker, the watts definitely had suffered (usually a larger watt for the amplifiers means a more powerful sound). But if portability isn't your concern, this is quite a nice speaker to have. It produces a really loud sound from its rather small chassis. The bass has its punch to it but it is not overwhelming, the higher range is crystally clear. Although it might be harder to ask it to excel in playing a symphony (by no means it sounds bad) comparing to speakers of a larger size (for example the beosound balance) considering dynamics performance or the room compensation technology which makes a speaker produces a sound that would fill the room(HomePod, balance, a9 mk4, etc), the design and the performance for pop music, female vocal, and higher range instruments like a violin can easily justify the tiny weakness of the speaker.
