BBK 1580 66mm Throttle Body for Ford Ranger, Explorer 4.0L

Part that came was the exact one I needed. Installation took about 30mins but that was with a beer break in the middle of it. Made my explorer more responsive and allows a lot more air into the engine.

For information purposes only, not advise: The airway for the idle air control system doesn't come drilled out fully so it may require modification to function properly. You can see that the gasket has a hole for it, but the hole in the metal blanks out.

Does improve throttle response, but not necessarily adds HP. My biggest issue that I have is that the throttle body gets STUCK WIDE OPEN... When you let off the pedal, the throttle body doesn't close. Pretty scary/dangerous.. Only had it for 3 months, sent back to BBK for repair/replacement, 3 months later the TB is sticking again- same issue as before, something to do with the spring mechanism, definitely not as strong as the stock TB spring. I took it off, put the stock TB back on.

This throttle body was installed on a 1996 4.0 ltr Ford Explorer and replaced a worn out OEM throttle body that had a bad vacuum leak. This throttle body made more horsepower from day one and works flawlessly. I got by my California smog test with this unit so I'm a happy camper

Exact fit works perfectly.

Big improvement in combination with headers and 2 1/2 inch full exhaust and k&n filter. Also did airbox mod and trottle cable mod. Way outperforms mod on original throttle body. Still not there yet, the rest of my mods are internal, ie cam, 1.7:1 rockers and ported heads. Stage 2 clutch. Five stars for bbk and Amazon.

Some how the TPS port changed form the first BBK Throttle Body I bought to this one. 1997 Ford Ranger doesn't work. It got smaller. BBK plead ignorance. Shame.
