Bypass. But they are the best shears out there. The kind that last for years, versus the cheaper ones.

Hi, try cleaning and lubricating the spring. Sometimes a build up of dirt etc can stop them from opening.

This pruner can cut up to an inch diameter stems depending on user strength and technique. Flexing larger stems and branches a bit at point of cut and away from cutting edge makes these larger cuts easier with out causing tissue damage.
