Really disappointing
Got these in February thinking they’d last all year. Really enjoyed the holster pocket design and the feel of them despite a somewhat tight waist. My job involves a lot of bending and stooping and the pants often had to be tugged at the thighs or it would pull too tight. Unfortunately, threads started pulling apart in July, and today (mid-August) it finally split in the crotch. I’ve had regular jeans hold together longer than this. Kinda thought CAT-brand material would hold up and be tougher but apparently not. They sure did look fantastic for work pants, though.

Crotch ripped on first wear. Hit or miss quality issues
Pants looked great out of the packaging. Hi-vis is exactly as described, all in all it looked great. Within the first hour of work the crotch easily split open. This is not my first pair of Cat pants I have had issues with also. The quality or quality check/control seems to be very hit or miss. I am so far 50/50 with good quality. Out of 3 pairs of HER defenders and 1 pair if Hi-vis I have had to return/exchange two of the 4 pairs so far.The biggest issue I have with Amazon and Caterpillar clothing is it seems EVERYTIME so far I have put a claim in on them, they are magically out of stock, while showing also inventory available. Currently they are estimating 2 months before I can get either pair of pants replaced, but they are able to be ordered without warranty without issue. Just at my cost.. so 1 star ....

Watch your size choice. Ok for the price.
I have a couple of pairs of Jobman Ultimate Craftsman pants and a pair of Blakladers of similar design to these Cat pants and decided to order a pair to check them out because of the price. You do get what you pay for. While the Cat pants have a similar design with the holster pockets, knee pockets and plenty of other pockets, the material construction and seams, while pretty good, are not up to the triple seams of the other pants, nor is the quality of the material used, which is a 60/40 cotton polyester blend, is lighter and not as comfortable as the heavier material of the other two brands.I do like the pants for the price point, but the quality of the Jobman and Blakladers has spoiled me and I doubt seriously the Cats will prove to be as durable or last as long, but I'll definitely give them a go.My main complaint is the sizing. I normally wear a size 32x30 in Jobman, Blaklander and Dickies pants because I prefer a little shorter pant to work in. That being said, I ordered 32x30 and upon arrival found that the waist was actually about a 31" and the length was comparable to a 32" inseam. I washed them and dried them twice with very little shrinkage. Also note that these are a high waisted and very baggy pants compared to other work pants of similar design. The knee pad location is also much lower than the other two brands mentioned, which is pretty much useless to me. I prefer them higher. I won't be buying another pair and I don't believe I'll recommend them to others.Update: I'm not a brand snob and can't afford to waste money so I've given these pants a good, hard, 3 weeks test. The material seems to be holding up pretty well but I've blown a seam in the rear left pocket area and both holster pockets inner seams are separating. I've read in other reviews about failing seams and it seems to be holding true for me. The other seams appear to be holding up well. My main complaint at this point is still the oversized legs and bagginess of them. I'm used to a relaxed fit but these are ridiculous. Twice in the last two weeks I've been asked where I got my snowboarding pants at. I'm glad these pants work for others, but the poor seams and bagginess are enough for me to spend another $20-$30 to get Jobman or Blaklader pants, both of which have a better cut and higher quality materials and seams.

Kneepads don't even cover my knees
I am 5'6" tall and wear a 31X30. I bought a 30X30 since they still usually fit fine, just a little snug and I plan on losing a couple pounds anyhow and then the 31" waist almost falls right off me. The length was great and the pants felt nice but even sucking in every bit of my gut I couldn't get the 30s to snap. That's never happened. I also tried on a pair of 30" pants a day before these arrived and they fit snug but I had no issue buckling them like with these.i would definitely say the waist runs small. Now on to the bigger issue. I decided to wear them around in a little job we had to test them out. It took about 2.5hrs to do and we were alone so I left the pants unsnapped and used a belt to hold them on. The main reason I bought the pants was to use the built in kneepad pockets. I ordered the same brand, recommended pads to go in the pockets. I put them in properly and tried them out. Every time I knelt down my knees hit the floor and the kneepads were covering my shins, not helping at all. I don't know if I got a defective pair or something but it almost seemed like CAT designed these pants using a taller person and then sold them in different heights but didn't adjust the position of the kneepad pockets. Anyhow, it was pretty disappointing to pay as much as I did for a pair of pants designed to have kneepads that cover your knees when you bend down and the pads stay at shin length and never even cover my knees. I was hoping to send them back and get a larger waist size but I think I've decided to just return the pads as well and buy a different brand to try.

Poor quality stitching.
Amazingly bright, perfect for remaining visible on the job. Not hot, but blocks wind.... at least until the stitching gave way the first time I used them. Started small in the groin, within the hour it unstitched all the way from the top of the fly to groin and started down the thigh. For the price these should last years as a flagger pant. At least a couple years as a work pant.

Best work pants ever, of many tried
Easily the best work pants I’ve ever had, and I’ve had lots.Likes:-well made- great stitching-wear patches at knees and boots-great knee pad pockets that can hold some of the best knee pad inserts I’ve used-holster pockets than can be left in or out of the front pockets-back pockets with Velcro flaps-wide back pockets that allow your wallet to move to the side so you’re not sitting on it-lots of pouches, pockets, holders, storage-more than normal belt loops-correct sizing-good price by comparisonDislikes:Not one yet, after wearing multiples identical pairs every day for two weeksSeems strange to be excited about pants but in my line of work, the right pants can make or break comfort, productivity and efficiency.

Fits great!
They’re a great pair of work pants! Breathable yet really durable like jeans. There’s a rubber inner belt that helps keep the pants at the desired height! Tons of pockets to hold your gear!I cut down 3 trees while wearing the pants, I have scratches all over my body from the tees, except on my hips and legs where the pants covered!I’m a 34/36” waist so I went with the 36” pants and they fit really well. There’s loops for a belt if need be but they fit really well!I have yet to wash them since I’ve only worn them once. Will update if they’ve shrunk or not after being washed..

Best work pants I’be ever found
Best work pants Ive ever found and for an extremely reasonable price. Pockets are good, my cell phone fits in the cell phone pocket even with its case (iphone 6, lifeproof case). Wallet also fits in other front pocket. Rubber lining around waist helps drastically to reduce “plumber’s crack syndrome” id you are squatting and standing all day. I found waist size fit a tad tighter than I was used to, but I went from loose with a 32”to snug with a 32”. The kneepad inserts are also a lifesaver, csnt reccommend these pants enough for any trades.Update: I have worn through a few pairs now, and One suggestion: improve the cell phone pocket. Reinforce the corners, slightly increase pocket size and increase the size of the velcro that holds it closed. Also one quality control issue is the pocket size for knee pads sometimes varies from pair to pair and 2 pairs have one knee that is very difficult to fit the pad into. Pants lasted over a year, 5 star still stands.
