Q: Why is this more than double the price that it was less than a year ago? I paid $8.77 last May and now it's $21.99 for the same exact product.

I have the same question. I found the same product at my local CVS Pharmacy for $11.95. I think the answer is simple: price gouging.

Q: Has anyone had success using this with the Hydrogen Peroxide based cleaning systems?

Hydrogen peroxide is not compatible with this item. The peroxide systems should already be removing all protein deposits. If would consult your eye care professional or optician

Q: For the manufacturer: is the boston protein remover appropriately used as an additive to the boston simplus for scleral lenses?

No - you must not add it to that solution. Only saline for the protein remover! Simplus already has protein remover in it, so it could damage the lens. I wear them too & they must be treated with great care as the surfaces can easily be damaged by chemicals
